Job Description

Summary: 

The Clinical Sales Pharmacist Consultant (CSPC) will have a solid working knowledge of all healthcare lines of business, the PBM industry, and clinical program offering and projects. This position will work directly with all members of the sales organization to support sales opportunities with current clients, new prospects, and industry conferences and meetings. This position will rely on data review to identify clinical opportunities for prospects and current clients and will support Account Management colleagues (Clinical Program Managers) in preparation for presentations.

The CSPC, with direction from leadership, will participate in discussions or presentations with consultants and brokers regarding current clinical strategies (formulary management, utilization management, pipeline management, etc) and clinical program offerings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manages, contributes, and assists in current priority, projects, programs or initiatives as defined by supervisor. Provides clinical subject matter expertise and combines with business operations knowledge to ensure clinical and business appropriateness and success.
  • Coordinates clinical utilization analyses in collaboration with the Clinical Program Manager (Client Team) and/or Analyst Clinical Sales (Clinical Sales team) in preparation for presentations to clients. Ensures timely and accurate review of plan data, according to policy, with appropriate intervention recommendations.
  • Supports recommended clinically appropriate initiatives to optimize the value of MedImpact’s rebate administration program for clients while delivering on the lower net cost goal.
  • Coordinates clinical utilization analyses and presentations to clients when requested by Clinical Sales leadership.
  • Recommends clinically appropriate formulary or drug strategy changes for Sales prospects while considering the lowest net cost after rebates, market shifts and utilization.
  • Identifies and promotes MedImpact’s evidence-based interventions and communication programs to prospects. Provides documentation of recommendations for clinically appropriate and financially beneficial clinical initiatives (e.g. rebate enhancement, lower net cost, generic programs, QA programs).
  • Acts as an integral part of designing, developing, and driving the clinical components of the clinical sales presentations and recommendations for prospects and renewal clients, including strategic and financial goals. The Clinical Sales' Pharmacist Consultant will focus on using a variety of analytical tools and clinical resources to identify opportunities for sales prospects and our broker and consultant colleagues.
  • Serve as a main point of contact for the Sales team. Works with Account Management, Implementation, Clinical Solutions, Trade team, and many other departments to define a clinical sales strategy with Clinical Sales Leadership.
  • Support individual sales opportunities; review clinical data and create clinical sales section of our bid/offer to that prospect; includes review of clinical analyses, specific formulary or program recommendations, coordination, and creation of client specific sales presentation.
  • Attend sales presentations as assigned by supervisor. This will include virtual meetings but often travel for capabilities presentations as well as finalist opportunity meetings will be required.
  • Train other clinicians who will support sales opportunities, Clinical Program Managers (Account Management team), on overall clinical message delivery, specific use of clinical analytics in preparing finalist presentations, how to deliver MedImpact drug or category specific strategies, etc.

Education and/or Experience  

Pharmacy degree (Pharm D) and 3 to 5 years related experience in PBM or managed care and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Valid Registered Pharmacist in any state.
