Job Summary

The Staff Accountant assists the Corporate Controller and VP of Finance by preparing, processing, and maintaining support for various accounting transactions. This position is responsible for performing accounting analysis and reconciliations in accordance with US GAAP, maintaining financial reports, processing journal entries, and preparing various reports for multiple service locations. The Staff Accountant is skilled in maintaining accounting and general ledger accounts, managing multiple priorities, effectively communicating independently, as well as successfully contributing as part of a remote work team.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Financial Close Timeliness: Adherence to established deadlines for monthly financial close processes, demonstrating punctuality and efficiency.
  • Accuracy Rate: Precision of journal entries, consistently maintained within an acceptable range.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense journal entries related to multiple service locations by compiling and analyzing monthly account information and activity.
  • Perform month-end, quarter-end, annual close and financial reporting procedures.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet and expense account reconciliations for multiple service locations.
  • Support external financial audits by creating support schedules and gathering requested documentation.
  • Prepare ad-hoc expense variance explanations based on transaction data.
  • Support process improvements and centralization across the accounting/finance department.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with internal and external parties of the Company.

Job Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of standard financial reports and GAAP guidelines
  • High degree of attention to detail and understanding and use of spreadsheets
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, vendors, and customers
  • Strong organization, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree of Accounting required
  • 2+ years in Accounting functions with increasing levels of responsibility
