Claims Pet Advocate

We’re looking for an empathetic, animal-loving individual to make a difference on our Pet Claims team.

Our CLX Pet Advocates help us settle pet claims efficiently and accurately by examining a pet’s medical history as it relates to their insurance policy. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Underwriting and SIU to assess risk and investigate losses—all while providing a best-in-class customer experience.

In this role you’ll work closely with a variety of equally pet-obsessed people. We’ll look to you to settle the most complex pet medical claims while surpassing customer expectations along the way.

In this role you’ll

• Organize and prioritize daily tasks in order to resolve claims quickly
• Explain coverage decisions (including letters of determination) in plain English, without relying on jargon
• Document claim files accurately with claim determination based on medical records and policy provisions
• Obtain additional documentation using phone and email to complete the claim filed
• Work closely with other CLX team members to provide world-class service to our customers

What you’ll need

• 5+ years of recent small animal vet tech experience; ER/specialty, strongly preferred
• 1+ years in a CLX Specialist role (for internal candidates only)
• Able to consistently exemplify the Lemonade values in all interactions with customers and colleagues
• P&C licensing/ Pet Insurance insurance knowledge and prior Pet claim handling experience, a major advantage
• A love for animals and unparalleled empathy for cats and dogs

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• A surplus of patience and a positive approach to work and life
• Comfortable with, and adaptable to new technology and business tools

Lemonade's US base salary range for this full-time position is $60,000 - $70,000 plus equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
