Opportunity:

Virtual Service Operations is searching for a Windows System Administrator to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will perform 24x7x365 administration and maintenance activities on various Windows servers in use.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cover night shift activities supporting all Windows servers, including: Monitoring availability and performance of all Windows servers using client-provided alerting systems and dashboard reports.
• Responding accordingly to alerts - troubleshooting, resolving, and documenting activities. Escalating and engaging product teams, engineers, and security operations resources as appropriate. Establish, follow, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for these troubleshooting activities.
• Execute approved releases / changes scheduled during working shift. Follow documented processes in the change control record to support and/or perform application deployments, upgrades, and/or configuration changes that require administrative access. Document activities and results per change management requirements and procedures.
• Execute and validate security patching scheduled during working shift following SOPs.
• Communicate effectively through written shift reports and shift change meetings the planned and completed activities, pending actions, and issues encountered and/or resolved during the shift.

Qualifications: 

• Technical Certification in CompTIA Security+
• Network+, Server+ or equivalent educational requirements/professional experience
• Quest ActiveRoles experience 
• WSUS experience 
• Altiris (Symantec Management Platform) 
• Familiarity with SAN/NAS infrastructure 
• Dell/Cisco UCS physical server management 
• PowerShell scripting experience 

• 3 - 5  years of experience supporting Windows servers – including administration, monitoring, patching, deployments, validation, and troubleshooting
• Must be willing and able to undergo a government Public Trust (SF-85) background investigation.
• Must be a team player with self-initiative, a desire to learn, and excellent verbal and non-verbal skills. 
• Must have experience supporting application development/operations teams through implementation and validation support. 
• Gitlab experience is highly desirable.
• Must have experience with Active Directory (AD) administration, PowerShell scripting, VCenter (VMware) use, server patching, security configuration, and validation. 
• Ansible playbook and AWX experience highly desirable.
• Fundamental understanding of networking and virtualization concepts.
• Familiarity with ITSM systems such as ServiceNow for problem, change, and incident management).
