About the role:
Role: Patient Safety Partner
Location: Remote, with occasional travel to the central London office
Rate of Pay: This is a volunteer role
Hours: 2-3 per week with an additional 1-2 hours per month for monthly meetings
We are seeking a Patient Safety Partner (PSP) to join us in a new voluntary role focused on improving patient safety, following the introduction of NHS England's Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF).
The role of the Patient Safety Partner is to act as the voice and representative of the patient and be an integral part of our team, sharing your insights and experiences as part of our commitment to enhance patient safety.
Key responsibilities:
- You will be required to attend meetings on a weekly basis and attend additional monthly meetings as they arise. During the meetings you will support compliance monitoring, address safety issues and provide appropriate challenges to enable change.
- You will provide patient insight by understanding and voicing what matters to patients.
- You will review organisational information and provide constructive feedback, ensuring that our information is easy for patients to understand.
- As an advocate for patient safety, you will ensure that the groups and committees you attend prioritise the patient, carer, and family perspective and champions a diversity of views. You will be willing to speak up if you think these objectives are not being met.
About you:
- You will have an understanding of and interest in patient safety.
- Be able to communicate confidently and articulately with senior leaders about strategic issues.
- Provide a patient, carer, or lay perspective and be able to put forward views on behalf of the wider community and groups of patients.
- Have experience of championing health improvements.
- Be a critical friend, be able to give constructive opinions and suggest solutions to issues.
- Possess sound judgement and an ability to be objective.
