About the Client:

Our client, a personal injury law firm, is seeking a Paralegal to join their dynamic team. This role is essential in supporting the firm's legal operations by overseeing the logistics of legal cases, ensuring smooth workflow, and maintaining compliance with legal procedures.

About the Role:

As a Paralegal, you will be instrumental in managing the operational and administrative aspects of legal casework. Collaborating closely with attorneys and the legal team, you will ensure efficient handling of legal tasks and maintain compliance with procedural requirements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate fluency in English, both written and spoken and possess conversational fluency in Portuguese. 

Prior experience in personal injury law is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage case logistics, including tracking case progress, deadlines, and maintaining detailed records.
  • Coordinate litigation calendars, and court filings, and ensure compliance with all filing deadlines.
  • Organize and maintain case files, legal documents, and evidence, adhering to firm policies.
  • Assist attorneys in drafting legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Act as a liaison between attorneys, clients, and external parties, facilitating clear and effective communication.
  • Conduct legal research on relevant statutes, case law, and regulations.
  • Monitor case timelines to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks.
  • Provide trial preparation support, including organizing documents and managing logistics for case presentations.


Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a paralegal or similar role within a law firm, preferably in New York.
  • Personal injury law experience is required.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research, document management, and case management software.
  • Knowledge of litigation procedures, legal terminology, and US court rules.
  • Fluency in English (written and oral) and spoken Portuguese is required.
