Job description

As the Financial Accountant – TUI Airline Accounting & Control you will be responsible for promoting compliance and adherence to the control framework across TUI Airline’s financial accounting processes, ensuring a robust balance sheet while identifying any risks and opportunities as they emerge. You will develop and demonstrate a strong understanding of underlying accounting policies, processes, controls and systems together with commercial acumen to deliver optimal financial outcomes for the business while preserving the integrity of the financial ledgers and processes of TUI Airline. This role will embrace and develop platformed working across the TUI Airline with responsibility for the UK, Nordics, Belgium, Netherlands and Germany , whilst working in close collaboration with AOC & TGBS general ledger teams

About The Job

  • Develop best practice standard accounting & reconciliation processes for key activities within the COO and CFOO arena of TUI Airline
  • Work closely with colleagues from Airline entities to build a solid relationship based on trust and one that delivers reliable accurate information
  • Successful delivery of key month end processes throughout Airline entities through alignment and standardisation of processes.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement for all platformed activities within responsibility of the role
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to gain buy-in for process changes, generate and debate ideas for process improvement and challenge the normal / as is way of doing things
  • Provide support for TUI Airline projects and wider M+A initiatives to ensure the Airline is fully supported and recognised in future programme deliveries
  • Support wider TUI Airline community to deliver best practice and share ideas to ensure best practice whilst maximising efficiency in everything we do
  • Support the delivery of internal & external Audit deliverables to meet Group requirements
  • Drive improvements in the quality and consistency of balance sheet reconciliations for the CPP CFOO function
  • Provide input and challenge to the P&L forecasts and cash flow forecasts where required; providing detailed analysis and understanding of general ledger items; offering appropriate challenge and support to the commercial teams
  • key interface between the Airline Financial Accounting and Control team and its internal and external customers, including intercompany and fixed assets, internal and external auditors and statutory authorities.


About You

  • Part Qualified Accountant working towards full qualification or
  • European university degree in business administration or similar, preferably with a focus on finance or controlling, and a couple years of experience working in finance/controlling
  • Finance professional with experience of Financial / Management Accounting & building control frameworks
  • Strong attention to detail and experience dealing with large volumes of data
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Ability to adapt and promote change
  • Ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships
