Description

We are seeking a Sr. Cybersecurity Engineer (Zero Trust Architecture) to join our team.

This role offers a dynamic opportunity to work on cutting-edge cybersecurity initiatives, including risk management strategies for Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems. The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced government contracting environment, bringing expertise in cybersecurity risk management, AI technologies, and Zero Trust Architecture.

 

OVERVIEW

The Sr. Cybersecurity Engineer (Zero Trust Architecture) will develop and implement cybersecurity strategies, focusing on Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) principles and the integration of AI-driven systems. The position includes analyzing risk associated with AI technologies and ensuring compliance with cybersecurity regulations while enhancing the security posture of Federal IT programs.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Sr. Cybersecurity Engineer (ZTA) will:

  • Translate cybersecurity principles and guidelines, including risk management for AI systems, into technical requirements and assess their impact on Product Lines.
  • Evaluate architectural, security controls, and environmental impacts on AI-driven technologies, ensuring secure deployment and integration into broader systems.
  • Analyze complex policies, guidance, and memoranda for VA IT programs and develop informed responses.
  • Review and incorporate Enhanced Engineering Practices and emerging AI-focused security strategies into solutions for platforms like VA Platform One (VAPO) and GitHub.com.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders (SPM, CTO, PE, IO) to validate inputs and ensure alignment with Enterprise Architecture and Modernization strategies, particularly concerning AI systems.
  • Conduct risk assessments on AI systems, identifying vulnerabilities, assessing operational impacts, and recommending mitigation strategies in compliance with federal cybersecurity policies.
  • Develop professional written or visual communication (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint) to translate technical cybersecurity and AI-related concepts into executive-level summaries.
  • Provide concise executive summaries for complex, lengthy documents to ensure decision-makers can review key points efficiently.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or a related technical discipline; a minimum of 10 years of experience in cybersecurity.

  • Extensive experience in cybersecurity risk management, with a focus on securing AI systems and integrating AI technologies into Zero Trust frameworks.
  • Proven expertise in designing and implementing systems aligned with agency cybersecurity policies and regulations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of cybersecurity tools, network topologies, intrusion detection, PKI, and secure network operations.
  • Experience analyzing and mitigating risks in AI-driven environments, including addressing ethical considerations, data privacy, and system integrity.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
