As a Frontend Application Engineer at ICF Next, you will apply your analytical and critical thinking skills to help solve client challenges. This role requires strong web application development skills in a Sitecore/C# development environment, the ability to properly prioritize, own and drive the work, share your opinions and observations, and work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams in an Agile environment.
The Work
ICF is supporting California State Government customer applications, which are built with Sitecore and React components. The delivery team consists of delivery support, front and back-end developers, UX/UI designers, content strategists, SMEs, business analysts, testers, and infrastructure and security professionals. The team works in 2-week iterations (10-week program increments) to develop new features, functionality, and modernization supporting both Information Technology and Marketing roadmaps.
As a contractor to federal or state governments, all hires may be required to complete additional background screenings at the time of hire or any time thereafter as requested.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and deliver quality web application implementations.
- Develop impactful features and/or fixes from a frontend development perspective for an enterprise-level web application.
- Implement new feature development via React-driven components that utilize Reduxas the data store.
- Coordinate with and work alongside back-end developers to integrate frontend development deliverables with the Sitecore Content Management System (CMS).
- Ensure comprehensive testing and remediation is performed on completed work alongside QA team members, as well as supporting the automated testing efforts with the software Cypress.
- Provide accurate documentation and ticket updates to the team’s Microsoft DevOps platform to enable accurate insight into the work being performed.
- Work together with web accessibility analysts to ensure the implementations being delivered are compliant with the team’s WCAG standards, in addition to self-testing markup via tools such as Deque aXe and WAVE.
- Consult alongside UX designers to ensure proposed comps are accessible-first, mobile-first, and consistent with the current site’s styles.
- Help business analysts write out granular user stories from a frontend development perspective by identifying any gaps, breaking down requirements into tasks, and/or providing estimates.
- Talk directly with the client to explain the technical side of the application for any errors found or new features developed.
- Participate in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospective meetings.
- Suggest areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions.
- Foster client relationship from a technical aspect.
- Participate in incident response as a member of the on-call incident management rotation.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- United States Resident
- 2+ years of experience as a frontend engineer and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related scientific or technical discipline OR 6+ years of experience developing enterprise-level web applications as a frontend engineer.
- 2+ years of performing technical writing, diagraming, and documentation alongside frontend engineer application development.
- 2+ years of experience working within a delivery team that leverages Agile based methodologies.
- 1+ years of experience developing web-accessible applications.
- 1+ years of experience developing applications with React.
Professional Skills:
- Strong understanding of HTTP, HTML, CSS, ES6 JavaScript, and Web Standards.
- Proficiency using at least one modern version control system, ideally Git.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-workstream project team.
- Very strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience optimizing frontend build processes with Webpack, Gulp, or similar.
- Experience writing stylesheets with SASS, LESS, or Tailwind.
- Experience working with jQuery alongside ES6 JavaScript.
- Experience working with Redux alongside React.
- Experience working with Web Components.
- Experience working with Sitecore and C# websites.
- Experience working with Cypress for automated testing.
- Experience testing and resolving web accessibility compliance items with Deque aXe or WAVE, alongside manual screen-reader testing.
- Proficiency in the concepts involved with object-oriented programming (OOP).
- Basic knowledge of UX best practices, and experience building responsive web interfaces (RWD).

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:
$69,862.00 - $118,765.00
