Job description

The DIRECTV Legal Department is seeking a first-year law student to join the team as a summer associate.

INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW

The internship is designed to provide the participant with an opportunity to develop both personally and professionally, as well as to gain experience by working alongside in-house counsel. Notable benefits of the internship include:

  • The participant will have a unique opportunity to see what life is like as an in-house attorney in a leading video content distribution company; and
  • The participant will have opportunities to work on content distribution agreements, attend depositions and hearings, conduct research, and draft memoranda ranging from a wide array of practice areas within the department, which may include Content and Programming, Intellectual Property, Litigation, Regulatory, Product, and Labor and Employment, among others.

The duration of the internship will be 8-10 weeks during Summer 2025. The internship will be primarily virtual (in-office work may also be available) with potential for travel to Los Angeles. This is a paid internship.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be a first-year student enrolled at an ABA - accredited law school in good academic standing. We are seeking candidates that have demonstrated an active commitment to the furtherance of diversity in the legal profession and that have a strong interest in the entertainment industry. Candidates interested in applying for this internship should submit:

  • A cover letter indicating why the student is an excellent candidate for the internship and addressing their interest in the entertainment industry (no more than 1 page).
  • A written statement describing the candidate’s active commitment to diversity and inclusion in the legal profession (no more than 1 page).
  • A current resume.
  • An academic transcript (a candidate’s GPA will not be considered as part of the application review process).

May require a background check due to job duties requiring routine access to DIRECTV and DIRECTV customer’s proprietary data. Qualified applicants with arrest and conviction will be considered for employment in accordance with local ordinances and state law.

This is a remote position that can be located anywhere in the United States. #LI-Remote

10-week internship program. 6/2/25 - 8/8/25 or 6/16/25 - 8/22/25.

Position requires full US work authorization now and in the future.
