Job Summary

Under the direction of the Manager of Finance, the Internal Tax Accountant will prepare sales, use, personal property and other tax returns and will lead the firm’s sales and use tax compliance efforts in accordance with company policies and procedures and applicable laws.

Responsibilities:

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Prepares state sales and use tax returns.
  • Performs internal state sales tax reviews.
  • Maintains book and tax basis fixed asset and depreciation schedules.
  • Prepares state personal property tax returns.
  • Maintains sales tax tables in billing application.
  • Leads sale tax billing compliance efforts.
  • Prepares Forms 1099.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three+ years of job-related experience
  • Experience in working with consolidated financial reporting of multiple related entities.
  • Understanding of state and federal wage and hour laws, and payroll tax issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and time management skills.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize work effectively.
  • Ability to balance many projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work under pressure and time deadlines.
  • Ability to analyze data and recommend solutions.
  • Requires strong problem identification/analysis skills.
  • Ability to provide clear, concise, advanced verbal and written communications
  • Ability to become proficient in Microsoft Dynamics GP (accounts payable and general ledger software), FAS Accounting (depreciation processing software) and Star (practice management software)

Wipfli supports equal pay for equal work and values each candidate’s unique experiences and skill sets. The estimated pay range for this position is: $60,000 - $81,000. Compensation within the range is determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, individuals' skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications, business needs and applicable employment laws.

Individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, subject to participation rules and based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual and Firm performance.
