Job description

Position Summary:
Tidal Basin is in search of a determined Associate Grants & Policy Specialist with strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills to join our Grants and Program Management team serving our state and local government clients. Tidal Basin experiences strong growth and provides a progressive working environment, that goes beyond a traditional consulting firm. Associates are given a wide variety of diversified consulting assignments under the supervision of different professionals.
The Associate Grants & Policy Specialist is responsible for supporting grant management implementation programs and supporting proposal development and delivery, and other duties as assigned. You will be working with our Project Managers, subject matter experts (SMEs) and other internal stakeholders. You will also be responsible for supporting proposal development through technical writing and research and will assist in assignments that support program and policy, reporting, and constituent services as needed. You will be responsible for support grant management implementation with project setup, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting related to these projects. 

Duties/Responsibilities:
 
Specific duties may include: 
  • Support proposal development, writing, and production
  • Work as a Member of a team to serve the needs of the client or organization
  • Be available for travel and deployment to remote work locations on short notice 
  • Be able to work on site with clients for extended periods of time 
  • Support Team’s file organization, uploading and maintaining shared documents and resources on SharePoint 
  • Learn and understand various federal grant regulations 
  • Create checklists and trackers for team’s internal use and clients’
  • Support the team with project controls for various contract types, including fixed price contracts and time and materials contracts.  
  • Provide monitoring support for the project budgets  
  • Manage recurring and ad hoc financial reporting requirement 
  • Communicate risks to management 
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly progress reports as required
  • Maintain financial and budget files for audits and support in assembling financial documents for audit requests.   
  • Documents work performed and effectively summarizes findings.
  • Assists in proofing schedules, calculations, work papers, reports, and other documents.
  • Support management in various assignments. 
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant regulations and guidance. 
  • Meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    • Effectively collaborate in a team environment, as well as work independently without much supervision.
    • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of regulatory rules and laws specific to Federal, State, and Local grant funded programs is an asset.
Required Education and Experience: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree, and 
  • 0-2 years of professional experience in accounting, finance, emergency management, or project controls 
Travel may be required in order to work with grantees on site. The amount of travel and locations will vary based upon client needs.
