Job description

The Purchasing Agent helps to maintain supply inventory levels for the organization. They are responsible for the invoicing, ordering and distribution of the supplies in line with Rogers’ policies and procedures.

Primary Duties
  • Procurement and Inventory:
    • Place orders for stock and non-stock items.
    • Match purchase requisitions/orders with invoices and process payments.
    • Maintain inventory control, distribute supplies, and reconcile credit card statements.
    • Assist in standardizing product purchases across locations.
  • Shipping and Receiving:
    • Coordinate shipping/receiving and supply distribution.
    • Reconcile department supply charges and assist with inventory adjustments.
Support Functions
  • Collaboration with Leadership:
    • Support the Director of Purchasing with patient care and office supplies.
    • Monitor unit supply systems to track orders, charges, and deliveries.
    • Ensure product quality while monitoring costs and trends.

  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Stay informed and compliant with Joint Commission and other regulatory standards.
    • Participate in training, in-services, and department education.

Team and Organizational Goals
  • Team Support:
    • Assist staff, educate interns, and train new employees on purchasing-related functions.
    • Participate in improvement projects, committees, and system meetings.

  • Communication and Professionalism:
    • Foster positive, solution-focused interactions with peers, vendors, and external parties.
    • Represent the organization positively in all professional dealings.

Additional Job Description:

Education/Training Requirements:​

  • High school graduate/GED, with one (1) year experience working in a hospital, preferably psychiatric, or equivalent experience in purchasing.
  • Typing and Microsoft® Office skills is required.
  • Must hold a valid driver license.
