The Office of Undergraduate Admissions at The Ohio State University is a dynamic and exciting place to work. This position offers an opportunity to strategically impact the future of Ohio State through the recruitment, admission, and support of outstanding students as the Outreach and Recruitment team is responsible for recruiting prospective students to The Ohio State University. The regional recruitment manager reports to the associate director of regional recruitment. The individual will be located in a home office in the greater NYC area and will work closely and alongside a team of full-time staff members of approximately 30 and a broader Undergraduate Admissions team of 55. Peak seasons are typically August through May given the cyclical nature of the work supported across Undergraduate Admissions.

As a member of the Undergraduate Admissions team, the regional recruitment manager establishes and maintains an off-site recruitment office designed to independently plan, execute, and evaluate recruitment activities and high school relations within assigned recruitment areas of New York City, Long Island, Westchester County and New Jersey; applies advanced knowledge of recruitment strategies and higher education experience to strategically plan and implement territory-specific activities and events; analyzes prospective student data and uses Empowering Marketing Analysis  (EMA), and other technologies/tools to inform strategic recruitment activities; designs and executes multiple methods of communications for prospective students within territory;  responsible for making recruitment calls to prospective students in collaboration with partner offices; responsible for counseling and corresponding with students, families, university departments, or other stakeholders regarding The Ohio State University undergraduate admissions policies, procedures, and general information over the phone, via email, via virtual technologies (Zoom) and in person; conducting large and small-group presentations; supports office operations based on home office needs; learning and maintaining knowledge of the areas within the office and university to best direct questions from staff and guests; researching and resolving problems; assisting with on and off campus recruitment events and projects; coordinating recruitment for special programs, as assigned, providing support to access on/off campus programs and initiatives; conducts large and small-group presentations; travels to high schools, community colleges, and other college fairs to represent OSU; regular travel necessary with extensive travel up to 15-20 weeks a year (Fall and Spring); engages with and promotes state ACAC programs and regional recruitment networks; develops and cultivates positive relationships with high school counselors, accesses program staff and area alumni; works with Alumni Relations to identify and engage local alumni in recruitment efforts; observes trends specific to territory and communicates those observations back to Columbus campus to inform future recruitment initiatives; provides all levels of support for home office including but not limited to: prepares budgets, facilitates administrative and technological support, troubleshoots technological issues; attends on campus update and training sessions at least 2-3 times a year; reviews applications (domestic, international, transfer, special population) and makes admissions recommendations through our holistic application review process that fluctuates through the year; serves on senior application review committees for selected application groups; plans on and off campus recruitment events and projects; coordinates recruitment for special programs; uses advanced knowledge to create territory-based events to support recruitment; provides support to access on/off campus programs and initiatives; participates as an active member of Undergraduate Admissions through membership on committees; assists office during events and other times throughout the year; conducts special projects and other duties as assigned; evening and weekend hours required; this position is based in either New York City, Long Island, Westchester County or Northern New Jersey and requires the regional recruitment manager to work from home.

Education/Experience:
Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 4 years of relevant experience required. Ability to live in targeted area and work out of home required; 4+ years previous experience in admissions, higher education outreach, counseling, public relations required; previous experience executing admissions recruitment activities required; excellent written and oral communication skills desired; technology skills required; valid driver's license required; this position requires successful completion of criminal background check.

Desired: Master's preferred; 4-8 years of experience in admissions or higher education outreach; knowledge of the greater NYC/NJ high school market strongly desired; experience in outreach and counseling for prospective students and knowledge of The Ohio State University community strongly desired; excellent written and oral communication skills desired.

Additional Information:

Salary range for this position is $67,505-$83,260. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications.
