This position is responsible for performing assignments requiring service of Collins Aerospace avionics, avionics systems, telecommunications or computer equipment and systems. The primary functions are to direct or perform; installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and system test and training, as required in accordance with Collins Aerospace and customer requirements. The position can additionally be tasked with planning and implementing interfaces between Collins Aerospace and Non-Collins Aerospace equipment. Services are performed using Collins Aerospace approved methods and workmanship standards to ensure optimum equipment operation and customer satisfaction. The Field Service Engineer (FSE) supports equipment and systems of high complexity and advanced technology. Competence is required in utilizing developmental techniques for experimental or prototype equipment and during configuration changes in customer systems including interface with Collins Aerospace and/or Non-Collins Aerospace equipment. The Sustainment and Support System personnel shall Provide Software Updates, Develop Monthly Reports, Support Information Assurance Requirements, and update the User’s Accounts Database.

Applicant must be willing to work first shift, be available for calls as needed, and occasionally exceed 40 hours per week. This position is a fully onsite role located at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma. This role is eligible for relocation.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • ​Offers technical assistance to field engineers, technicians, and product support teams engaged in diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and debugging intricate electro-mechanical devices, computer systems, and complex software that is associated with information technology.

  • Installs, operates, maintains, repairs and modifies equipment. Normally receives little instructions on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments. Participates in determining objectives of assignment. Plans schedules and arranges own activities in accomplishing objectives. Work is reviewed upon completion.

  • Conducts technical analysis of product implementations, modifications and enhancements to product in accordance with specific customer specifications and implementations.

  • Engages with senior personnel both within and outside the organization in their area of expertise. Acts as the primary representative for the organization on contracts or projects. Collaborates with senior internal and external stakeholders on important issues, frequently necessitating coordination across different organizations.

  • Develops solutions to a variety of complex problems. May refer to established precedents and policies. Exerts some influence on the overall objectives and long-range goals of the organization. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve objectives would normally have a serious effect upon the administration of the organization. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

  • Comprehensive knowledge and application of principles, concepts, practices, and standards. Extensive familiarity with industry practices. A highly experienced professional with a deep understanding of their area of expertise. Effectively addresses a variety of challenges through innovative solutions. This role represents a fully qualified, career-focused position.

  • Responds to situations where second-line product support has failed to isolate or fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.

  • Troubleshoots technical problems and issues, determines technical solution in accordance with product and customer specifications, and recommends actions to company or customer representatives for coordinative product solution.

  • Involved in planning and preparing customer installation and training. Prepares and provides approval and validation of product support documentation. Prepares on-site installation drawings where modifications have been performed.

  • Reports design, reliability and maintenance problems or bugs to design engineering/software engineering.

  • Serves as company liaison with customer on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects.

  • Applies knowledge and experience with standard Information Assurance concepts, practices, and procedures within the network environment.

  • Must be willing to work first shift, be available for calls as needed, and occasionally exceed 40 hours per week.

  • Must be willing to travel for extended periods of time and be open to relocation.

QUALIFICATIONS YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.

  • Active and transferable Top-Secret level U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Must have experience in operating the mission support equipment installed on a Navy E-6B aircraft.

  • Must meet the requirements as defined in DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program for IAT Level II position.

  • Possess IA (Information Assurance) Certification in one of the following: GSEC, SCNP, SSCP or Security+

QUALIFICATIONS WE PREFER:

  • Possess Computing Environment Certification in one or more of the following: RedHat Enterprise Linux (preferred), Linux+, or Solaris 10.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
