Job description

🚀 Whatnot

Whatnot is the largest livestream shopping platform in North America and Europe to buy, sell, and discover the things you love. We’re building the future of ecommerce, bringing together community, shopping and entertainment. We are committed to our values, and as a remote co-located team, we operate out of hubs within the US, UK, Ireland, Poland, and Germany today.

We’re innovating in the fast-paced world of live auctions from fashion, beauty, electronics to collectibles like trading cards, comic books, and even live plants. Whatnot has something for everyone.

And, we’re growing. Whatnot has been one of the fastest growing marketplaces and we’re hiring forward-thinking problem solvers across all functional areas.

💻 Role

As a Product Designer on the Discovery Team at Whatnot, you’ll play a key role in helping users find the products they love through features like Search, Ranking, Content Discovery, and more.

You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, and data science, to design solutions that enhance the shopping journey and personalize each user’s experience. Your work will directly impact how people interact with and navigate Whatnot’s platform, making it easier and more enjoyable for them to discover products, live shows, and sellers that align with their interests.

  • User-Centered Design for Discovery: Design user-centric solutions that make it easier and more enjoyable for users to discover products, creators, and live shows that match their interests and needs.
  • Data-Driven Design: Partner with the Data Science and Engineering teams to leverage user insights and behavioral data, iterating on designs based on data findings to improve engagement and discovery outcomes.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams to ensure alignment on business goals, technical feasibility, and the user journey.
  • End-to-End Design Process: Lead the design lifecycle from research and ideation to prototyping, testing, and final execution.
  • Maintain and Evolve the Design System: Ensure a cohesive look and feel across the Discovery team’s features while pushing for innovative design approaches within Whatnot’s visual language.

Team members in this role are required to be within commuting distance of our San Francisco, CA, Los Angeles, CA, or New York, NY hubs.
