A school nurse chaperone plays a unique role in ensuring the health and safety of students during regular school settings. Here are typical responsibilities for a school nurse chaperone:

Responsibilities:
*Administer first aid, medication, or emergency medical care to students as needed during the school day.
*Monitor students with chronic health conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes) and ensure they have access to necessary medications or treatments.
*Carry necessary medical equipment and ensure students' medical emergency information is readily available.
*Work with teachers and other chaperones to supervise students, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the day.
*Maintain clear communication with school staff, parents, and healthcare providers regarding any medical issues that arise.
*Provide updates to parents or guardians if a student becomes ill or injured.
*Keep accurate records of any health incidents, treatments provided, and medications administered during the day.

Qualifications:

  • Current License for the State of Florida
  • Current CPR Card
  • Proof of negative TB (PPD, titer or X-ray)
  • Successful completion of the skills assessment specific to the area of practice
