Job Description

The ideal Senior Privacy Analyst candidate has demonstrated experience working on complex privacy related projects in a corporate environment with a variety of different teams, has experience investigating privacy and information security incidents, and is able to bring excellent communication and customer service skills to the job every day.

A day in the life…

  • Demonstrate knowledge of privacy requirements and best practices, and how to apply them to business practices and projects

  • Interpret privacy requirements and best practices, and identify how they impact business projects

  • Support assessments of applications, systems and business processes, identify privacy considerations based on laws, regulations and business requirements, and design solutions to ensure alignment with privacy principles, policies, practices and customer expectations

  • Partner with business owners, technology architects, developers and product/program managers across business units including Information Security, Technology, Operations, Marketing, Data Analytics, Strategy, HR, and affiliated companies (Nordstrom Rack, Nordstrom Credit) to design and develop privacy requirements and solutions across multiple technologies, platforms, and customer and employee experiences

  • Distill complex issues into clear, easy to understand privacy requirements and recommendations

  • Receive and respond to customer privacy inquiries and complaints via phone, email and mail, and handle communications in a professional customer service focused manner

  • Investigate actual or suspected privacy incidents independently and in partnership with other teams, and communicate with customers about reported and confirmed incidents

You own this if you have…

  • 3+ years of experience working in a privacy specific role

  • Experience receiving, investigating, and responding to privacy related inquiries and requests from customers

  • Strong computer skills with working proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook

  • Strong sense of collaboration, and excellent communication and organizational skills

  • High level of personal integrity and confidentiality

  • Prior experience and working knowledge of law and trends affecting U.S. and global privacy, policy and compliance including: Online Behavior Advertising Principles, U.S. State Data Breach Notification laws, U.S. State data protection laws, Attorney General and Federal Trade Commission privacy guidance and enforcement actions, GLBA, HIPAA, PIPEDA, CAN SPAM, CASL, and COPPA

  • Experience with reviewing security and/or third party risk assessments a plus

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in related field (preferred)

  • Privacy Professional Certification: CIPP/US or other similar credential (preferred)

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.

California: $69,500 - $144,000 Annually, Colorado: $69,500 - $115,000 Annually, Connecticut: $69,500 - $115,000 Annually, Hawaii: $69,500 - $115,000 Annually, Maryland: $69,500 - $115,000 Annually, Nevada: $69,500 - $115,000 Annually, New York $69,500 - $144,000 Annually, Rhode Island: $69,500 - $144,000 Annually, Washington: $69,500 - $132,000 Annually, Washington DC: $80,000 - $132,000 Annually
