Position Summary

The Hospital Safety Officer assures, for the assigned business unit(s), a safe and secure work/care environment is maintained, safety policies are met in accordance with national/state/local rules and regulations, and full compliance with accreditation/licensure standards at all times. The Safety Officer employs the risk management program designed to identify, prevent and minimize risk, and stops work in the event of immediate threat to life and safety at the assigned business unit. The Safety Officer conducts daily walkthroughs of facilities, investigates safety hazards, prepares reports, makes recommendations to correct safety hazards and monitors status of deficiencies noted for operational leadership. The Safety Officer works closely with all levels of staff and management, government regulatory agencies, local emergency agencies, and Safety and other hospital contractors in exercise of duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety or another related field preferred
  • Certification in Industrial/Occupational Safety or ability to obtain within 6 months of placement in position
  • Minimum four (4) years of safety experience preferably in a hospital environment
  • Current Washington state driver’s license and proof of a safe driving record (which meets established MultiCare Standards) obtained by a motor vehicle report from the appropriate state

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $93,018.00 - $133,869.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
