The opportunity
The Sr. SIS Developer will report to the Director of SIS Solution Delivery and analyze and develop troubleshooting and documenting solutions to our needs throughout the entire phase of the development cycle. You will develop custom scripts related to the Banner Student Information System, and providing support for integration work between Banner and other systems. Representative work includes the development of student-facing forms that rely on Banner data, creation of scripts to load/modify Banner data, and related work. You will work with functional, data, and QA SMEs to ensure accurate specifications and testing. The role must also work with partners to understand and fill any requirements gaps or issues. You will will also help to develop test case and test data, and will ensure documentation, maintenance, and monitoring attention.

What you'll do:
- You will gather partner requirements, analyze functional requirements, recommend and design possible solutions. Demonstrate ability to gather requirements if BA support is not available.
- You will Create scalable scripts and applications that further adoption and usage of the Banner SIS.
- You will advise business departments on the creation, modification, or automation of their business process.
- You will design inter-system data integrations using commercial and custom solutions.
- You will use appropriate tools (DB Visualizer, Visual Studio, Eclipse, and other development tools/environments) to develop solutions based on our requirements.
- You will lead development efforts on products or product features.
- You will provide accurate estimates on project tasks.
- You will use Agile or other prescribed methodology.
- You will take an active role in Banner backlog grooming. Provide reliable information on feasibility, sizing, development approach, maintainability, and scalability.
- You will research and provide technical solutions for complex design challenges.
- You will work with other members of ITS teams to ensure code quality, standards and development best practices.
- You will maintain communication around issues and opportunities; communicate across organizational boundaries from system end-users through senior management.
- You will participate in important diagnostic work. Depending on criticality, some work may occur on nights/weekends.
- You will Support project planning and execution with established department methodologies, such as Agile.
- You will oversee or co-owns products, identifies opportunities for improvements and bugs.
- You will lead peer and code reviews.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
What we're looking for:
- 7+ years relevant experience. Relevant experience includes clear demonstration of development expertise and successful development skills.
- Banner Student Information System Required.
- Knowledge of core development tools/languages (SQL, Python, PHP).
- Experience with higher education concepts and technical impact.
- Understanding of Software/System Development Lifecycle.
- Familiarity with performance testing and tuning approaches.
- Experience documenting system technical specifications and test specifications.
- Experience generating reports using SQL
Additional experience with:
- Certifications such as SQL and other languages/coding certifications.
- Bachelors Degree(s) in related field and experience.
- Experience cost-benefit and Return on investment analysis techniques.
- Experience in root-cause analysis for troubleshooting problems.

Compensation
The annual pay range for this position is $100,560.00 - $160,926.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations. We expect this position to be hired in the following target hiring range $111,119.00 - $150,338.00.
