A Day in the Life

Medtronic is hiring a Principal Pricing Strategist to shape the pricing strategy for the Western Europe Structural Heart, Aortic, and Cardiac Surgery Operating Units (OUs). This role offers flexibility for the employee's location within Europe.

As a Principal Pricing Strategist, you will collaborate closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to develop effective pricing strategies tailored to diverse portfolios and customer segments. You will conduct value assessments, research pricing opportunities, and build models to optimize profit and demand. Working alongside marketing and other key stakeholders, you will support product launches, identify pricing opportunities, and implement pricing strategies. You will also play a key role in creating and maintaining pricing guidelines and ensuring alignment with governance processes.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Partner with the Western Europe Vice President and cross-functional teams to design and implement pricing strategies across product and service portfolios, tailored to customer needs.
  • Analyze pricing trends, provide actionable recommendations, and build consensus with key stakeholders to align on pricing approaches.
  • Identify key pricing factors and assess opportunities to optimize pricing outcomes.
  • Define pricing goals and targets, monitor progress, and ensure system accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with leadership teams at country, regional, and global levels to design innovative business models and value-based healthcare programs.
  • Review major tenders and deals, ensuring they meet revenue and profitability objectives. Provide guidance to country teams and senior management.
  • Develop tools and processes that strengthen the organization's focus on pricing as a strategic lever for growth.
  • Foster a collaborative mindset around pricing by sharing best practices and supporting initiatives across teams.
  • Ensure adherence to internal procedures and regulations.
  • Use analytical and financial expertise to build trust and effectively communicate with stakeholders, including regional sales and marketing leaders.


Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • At least five years of experience in pricing strategy, market optimization, product profitability, tenders, or reimbursement processes and A university degree or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with European tender and reimbursement systems.
  • Experience working in cross-functional, multi-country teams within a matrix organization.
  • Fluency in English (additional European languages are a plus).
  • A track record of developing and implementing pricing strategies that enhance market access and profitability.
  • Expertise in pricing, sales, or operational marketing, ideally gained through international roles or in a leading pricing consultancy.
  • Strong analytical skills, including proficiency with financial modeling tools like Excel.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to work independently and influence outcomes in complex environments.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills, with a focus on teamwork and consensus-building.


Knowledge of Vendavo and experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
