BASE PAY RATE: USD$147,000-$183,500
The base salary will vary based on criteria such as education, experience and qualifications of the applicant, location, internal equity, and alignment with the market.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
The Director of Technology, Varsity Yearbook will build and manage the team responsible for development of software across our suite of yearbook-focused applications. This is a critical role on the Yearbook Technology leadership team. The Director of Technology is expected to collaborate with our Yearbook product management team, broader IT leadership team, and Varsity Brands IT to help us implement the best future-state software in the market.
WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Work closely with our Yearbook architects, product managers, QA team, and the VP of Yearbook Technology to design and implement major features
- Drive the future of Varsity Yearbook applications through the development of strong technical and solution architecture
- Mentor and coach the Yearbook development team to ensure features and enhancements are delivered on time and with the highest quality
- Demonstrate hands-on leadership through direct development of code (when required), code reviews, build and release coordination, and solution documentation
- Build metrics and KPIs to ensure our development team is operating at the highest possible levels of efficiency
- Research and investigate new technologies and innovations that could be applied to our Yearbook application suite
QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ ABILITIES
- Outstanding collaboration and communication skills with exceptional problem-solving capabilities
- Experience coaching, mentoring, and managing developers of all skill levels
- Deep experience across our technical stack, including Angular, NgRx, FabricJS, Java, Node, JavaScript, and TypeScript
- Experience architecting, developing, and supporting REST APIs; experience with microservices architectures is preferred
- Strong understanding of cloud native concepts, including experience with AWS and Amazon MQ; experience with alternative cloud service providers is preferred
- Demonstrated experience working in various Agile methodologies, especially Scrum, including the ability to mentor developers in Agile best practices
- Demonstrated history managing multiple projects and priorities effectively
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or another IT-related field; commensurate experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree
- At least 10 years of experience in technology roles, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership position
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This job operates in a professional office environment. Largely a sedentary role with some filing requiring the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary. The ability to sit or stand for long periods through meetings and while operating office equipment, PC’s, laptop, telephone will be required.
