The Lead role is a full-time position that sits within the Ceded Reinsurance Department, leading Argo’s reinsurance strategy through tactful negotiations and execution of placements.

The Ceded Re – Operations team plays a vital role throughout the reinsurance life cycle.  The team performs a variety of responsibilities in a collaborative manner to support the execution of treaty placements and the daily needs of the programs thereafter.

Due to the diverse nature of work, the role offers substantial personal and professional growth.  The individual will have the opportunity to work on a highly visible team with key leaders across Argo Group and the marketplace, gain valuable basic and advanced reinsurance knowledge, and help reshape operational procedures.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Liaison to internal and external partners for ceded operations inquiries
  • Develop and enhance new processes to optimize efficiency
  • Create upper management reporting materials for related committees
  • Manage Security List and perform one-off market reviews for going concern
  • Coordinate counterparty reinsurance audits
  • Maintain reinsurance and third-party capital transaction documentation
  • Ensure adherence to SOX controls and assist with audits/financial reporting
  • Ad hoc projects and additional duties as assigned

  • Confident communicator at all levels of the organization and marketplace
  • Base knowledge of insurance / reinsurance concepts
  • General understanding of regulatory compliance and SOX requirements
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other industry software
  • Ability to work flexibly in a fast-paced environment

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or related equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years of related work experience in reinsurance, reinsurance operations or reinsurance accounting
