Job description

As a Scrum Master, you blend deep scrum expertise with a passion for mentoring, coaching, and constant improvement. As part of a highly collaborative squad/team, you will advise, mentor, coach, and train on performance against Agile values, practices, and processes to accelerate squad/team value delivery. In partnership with Product Owners, you will maintain backlogs, help to remove impediments, and facilitate Agile ceremonies such as the daily stand-up, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives. You will examine and drive multiple team performances through metrics and find opportunities for the squads to fully realize the benefits of working in an agile structure.

Essential Functions: In addition to working as prescribed in our Performance Factors specific responsibilities of this role include:

Minimum Requirements:

Define the overall vision in partnership with Product Strategy and General Manager. Take the vision of the Product Strategy and translate the work into user stories. Work to implement those work items, which include:

  • Serve as scrum master and coach multiple squads/teams, facilitating transparency, inspection, and adaption
  • Support and help the product owner create a team culture of continuous improvement by encouraging squad members to experiment with and innovate current-day practices
  • Guide squad/team to maximize self-organization and leverage it to evolve Agile practices
  • Be the champion of Scrum – its roles, events, and artifacts to help the squad/team and stakeholders understand their value
  • Work collaboratively with squad and chapter leaders to enable the delivery of the squad's mission through well-executed sprints
  • Help the product owner stay within the Scrum process framework
  • Ensure the backlog is in good order and ready for the next sprint
  • Be a thought partner with the product owner to ensure the squad does not take on too much work in a given sprint
  • Work with peers and product owners to continue evolving our planning practice in support of a continuous planning model
  • Regularly assess squad maturity and actively coach to higher levels of growth, in partnership with peers and Enterprise Agile Coaches to impact squad maturity
  • Observe and provide consistent and impactful feedback for individuals and squad/team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to rapidly build trust and positively influence others at all levels of the organization
  • Proven track record as a change agent capable of coaching agile practices to squad/team and individuals from across different functions, experiences, and geographies as they work through new and unfamiliar situations
  • Ability to effectively facilitate and brainstorm with the squad/team to generate solutions that address challenges and roadblocks to accelerating value delivery
  • A passion for learning new skills and modeling a culture of continuous learning, mentoring, and coaching

  • Experience working in the healthcare industry
  • Experience working in the financial industry
  • Experience working with global teams
  • Scrum certifications
  • API experience

Education/Experience/Certification Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to follow through on issues to resolution.
  • Must be able to act both independently and as a team member.
