Location Details: Strasburg, France

At GoDaddy the future of work looks different for each team. Some teams work in the office full-time; others have a hybrid arrangement (they work remotely some days and in the office some days) and some work entirely remotely.

This is an in-office position and you’ll be expected to work full-time in an office location, and therefore must live within commuting distance from your assigned office. You will work from this office beginning on your first day.

Our Data Center operates 24/7 and flexibility for shift patterns will be required.

As a Junior Data Center Technician at GoDaddy, you will play a vital role in our operations as the technical liaison between our technology teams and the data center environment. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning of our data centers, which are the backbone of our infrastructure.

What you'll get to do...

A Data Center System Engineer I will be the technical liaison between the technology teams and the Data Center Environment. You are able to troubleshoot and solve all but the most complex infrastructure issues.

As a skilled troubleshooter on a wide range of Data Center environment and systems you understand which issues to escalate to the appropriate resolver groups. You build and maintain documentation on technologies you support. You understand all aspects of the equipment you support. You know how to innovate and make decisions on your own, but also know how to take direction when it is given, paying attention to all details involved.

Your experience should include...

  • Must have demonstrated basic expertise in two or more of these areas:
    • Systems administration (Linux and/or Windows Servers)
    • Networking (DNS, DHCP)
    • Programming / scripting (Java, Perl, Ruby, Python, and/or PHP)
  • Understanding of data center electrical concepts, troubleshooting, and safety and key server hardware components (CPU/RAM/PSU/HDDs/RAID batteries, etc)
  • Knowledge of networking devices (Switches, Routers, Media Convertors, Fiber Taps) understanding of Linux/Windows Operating Systems
  • Basic cabling troubleshooting skills (Cooper and Fiber) and can trouble shoot and replace defect components
  • Basic knowledge of SSH/RDP
  • Use of copper and fiber testing equipment
  • Data Center Logistics (Shipping, Receiving, deployments) and inventory control methodologies
  • Ticket management methodologies (ITIL process)
  • Virtual Machine (VM) technology and TCP/IP
