MLS Operations – Consultant, Business Project Management
Portfolio/Project Manager and Communications Consultant
Role Summary:
This role plays a critical part in strategic execution within the Management Liability & Specialty planning unit. As a portfolio manager, this associate is charged with tracking and monitoring the entire portfolio of work being done to support MLS across the organization. As a project manager, this associate will manage and help to deliver projects being led out of the MLS Operations team. In addition to these core responsibilities, this role also manages a variety of miscellaneous responsibilities related to effective communication within the MLS planning unit.

Primary Duties:
- Track, oversee, and report out on the portfolio of work being done in service of MLS (both within the planning unit and in other areas)
- Manage the set of projects being led by the MLS Operations team, including creation of standard project deliverables (charters, status reports, etc.)
- Assist with project deliverable creation (process mapping, training materials, etc.)
Secondary Duties:
- Facilitate communications within the MLS planning unit (newsletters, all-associate meetings, leadership connections, etc.)
- Maintain and update business continuity documentation
- Help manage MLS SharePoint sites
- Monitor and maintain MLSOps shared email account
- Liaise with Learning Resources to communicate associate development needs

Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinates and prioritizes all aspects of projects, including: planning, communication, execution and completion.
Develops and controls timelines, including regularly re-assessing risks, throughout project life. Revises project plans on an ongoing basis to maintain alignment with other projects and the business strategy.
Coordinates business/systems unit resources to log issues, designs processes and implements solutions. Maintains awareness of customer and systems requirements and conforms to those requirements.
Responsible for internal and external resource management, budgeting and cost containment.
Provides mentorship and feedback to project team members.
Recommends and implements policies and procedures for new business processes and manages these processes upon completion of the project. Communicates process changes to impacted business units.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Manager/Director or Officer. This is an individual contributor position.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate studies in business, mathematics or related field.
License/Certification/Designation: Project Management Certification preferred.
Experience: Six years of work experience in project management. Business process mapping experience preferred.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Strong knowledge of project management concepts and techniques. Working knowledge of business terminology, systems and data processing policies, practices and procedures. Knowledge of business-related systems concepts and requirements preferred. Strong relationship building skills. Outstanding project management skills. Strong negotiation and problem solving skills. Proven decision making skills for problem identification and selection of alternatives. Effective interpersonal skills. Ability to prepare technical reports and formal presentations.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Nationwide pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement within the actual starting salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. If a Sales job, Sales Incentives, based on performance goals are possible in addition to this range.
The national salary range for Consultant, Business Project Management : $76,000.00-$156,000.00
The expected starting salary range for Consultant, Business Project Management : $84,000.00 - $126,000.00
