About the job

This person will support the leave of absence, time-off and accommodation programs for over 3,000 employees in the US & Canada. The role will serve as a leave & time-off expert and point person in a fast paced and dynamic environment. The Global Leaves team partners closely with the North America Benefits team (within Global Benefits) who are responsible for all health, risk, retirement and well-being programs. 

This team (Global Benefits) ensures our benefit offerings provide support and meets the current and future needs of all Twilions. We are focused on scaling our capabilities to align with Twilio’s growth by ensuring we are operating efficiently and effectively. We prioritize delivering excellent customer service when employees interact with internal and external benefit team partners.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Design, develop & implement an evolved roadmap for absence and claims management, disability and accommodation programs that is legally compliant and aligned with the Company’s strategic goals.
  • Establish strong partnerships and collaborate with teams across Twilio (e.g., HRBP’s, Payroll, Legal, Communications, People Technology, Facilities, Finance, Procurement etc.)
  • Keep current knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in leaves & accommodation laws and practices 
  • Has a thorough understanding of compliance and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review and modify policies, communications, and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Prepare and develop communication materials and information about leave programs, procedures, and changes.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert with intricate knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws and governing regulations, including FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, and State leave programs.
  • Engages in the interactive accommodation process with employees, HR Business Partners, Managers and Legal Team to identify and assess options for providing reasonable accommodations in accordance with the ADA and other applicable laws pertaining to disabilities.

Required:

  • 10+ years of experience in leave management and accommodation practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and other leave laws, program management and compliance. 
  • Experience in employee education/engagement, rolling out communications and enablement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective working relationships with internal & external partners.
  • Strong technical aptitude, experience with HCM systems Workday preferred.

Desired:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in managing leave programs for large global organizations.
  • Track record of successful partnership and management of external carriers such as TPA’s, internal and external legal counsel and other providers.
  • Track record of monitoring and improving operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work collaboratively across internal teams to provide effective customer service to employees.
  • Experience working remotely and for multinational companies.
  • Ability to prioritize and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Attention to detail, organizational, and project management skills.
Location

This role will be remote, but is not eligible to be hired in CA, CT, NJ, NY, PA, WA

Travel

The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:

  • Based in Colorado or Washington D.C.: $125,320 - $154,400

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state.
