Job description

Ready to lead, disrupt and reinvent the sleep industry?

We are Emma – The Sleep Company. Created in 2013, we are now the world's largest D2C sleep brand, available in over 30 countries and recommended by many consumer associations in EMEA, APAC, and the Americas. We're pushing the boundaries of technology to transform the world of sleep and we want your help to pull it off.

We're a highly ambitious, hard-working team that pushes you to produce your best work yet. We focus on how we approach problems, we chase growth, and set ambitious goals. Want your ideas to have an impact and your career to grow? Then Emma is the right place for you.

We are seeking a talented and experienced Engineering Manager to lead one of our engineering teams.
In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire software development lifecycle, from ideation to deployment. You will work closely with Product Managers and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products that meet the end user’s needs.

What you'll do:
  • You will lead an empowered team to design, build, and scale Emma’s technology platform, helping us become a global leader in sleep comfort products. Your work will directly impact our customers’ experiences and the quality of our offerings.
  • You will own the team’s delivery, driving predictable progress through proactive risk identification and mitigation, while ensuring clear, timely communication with stakeholders at every stage.
  • You will champion continuous improvement and innovation, using well-established principles like continuous delivery, SRE, and DevOps to enhance our delivery speed and quality.
  • You will work to foster a highly engaged, collaborative and psychologically safe team focused on continuous improvement.  You will play a key role in attracting, recruiting, developing and retaining great engineering talent.
  • You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and data, to define and achieve a data-informed roadmap, measurable KPIs, and a compelling mission.
  • You will work closely with senior and staff engineers to ensure the technical excellence of the architecture and software by actively participating in writing and reviewing design docs, pair programming, and code reviews.
  • You will coach, mentor, and support your team members in achieving their full potential, fostering a high-performance culture through clear roles, career pathing, and regular development feedback.
  • You will coordinate incident response and ensure each incident becomes a learning opportunity.

  • Who we're looking for:
  • You have extensive knowledge of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, object-oriented programming, software design patterns, and continuous delivery.
  • You bring deep technical expertise, ideally in E-commerce. Your experience with our tech stack (AWS, JavaScript/Typescript, Golang) allows you to guide engineers effectively while making strategic technical decisions.
  • You excel at people management, promoting inclusivity and psychological safety, with a proven ability to lead and develop teams.
  • You can motivate, coach, and develop engineering talent, fostering an open and innovative team culture.
  • You have a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer or electrical engineering, business informatics or equivalency in relevant work experience.
  • You are highly proactive, resourceful, and have a strong sense of ownership, with the ability to solve complex business problems through technology.
  • You have strong analytical skills, business acumen, and are an open-minded and creative team player that challenges directly while caring deeply.

  • What we offer:
  • A combination of personal and company growth to accelerate your career and help you reach your goals.
  • A career development path tailored to your goals, with access to mentorship, training, and resources that will accelerate your professional growth.
  • The chance to work on exciting and challenging projects as part of a dedicated, international team.
  • A culture of collaboration and innovation, where you’ll have the freedom to implement new ideas, shape processes, and help build the DNA of a maturing company.
  • To work and learn from experts in diverse fields and get to know your team members at exciting company events.
  • Become an Emmie

Emma is transforming the world of sleep - and we want the highest-performing people to help us pull it off. We want you. But only if you're willing to go all in. Only if you're willing to question, disrupt, innovate, and create from the ground up.

We proudly celebrate diversity. We are an equal-opportunity employer committed to promoting inclusion in our workplace. We consider all qualified applicants for employment without regard to race, ethnic origin, religion or belief, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or age.

Our aim is to get back to you in a couple of days, however, we are currently receiving a large number of applications and this might lead to a delay in the process. We will get back to you as soon as possible!
