Legal Counsel

Our client is seeking a bright, motivated Legal Counsel with 2-5 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) to join their dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will be UK-based. The role offers flexibility, with remote or hybrid arrangements available and access to offices in the UK.

This opportunity is suitable for individuals with varied experience levels, including junior and senior counsels, provided they demonstrate gambling industry awareness (preferable) and a positive attitude.

Role Overview:
As Legal Counsel, you will collaborate closely with the General Counsel (based in London) and a global Legal and Compliance team. Your focus will include drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and providing support on data protection matters. You’ll play a pivotal role in delivering clear, efficient, and value-added legal advice across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a broad range of contracts (e.g., sales, distribution, licensing, confidentiality).
• Provide pragmatic legal advice to internal stakeholders, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
• Proactively engage with the business to understand its operations, product lines, and strategic goals to tailor legal solutions effectively.
• Collaborate across departments (company secretarial, licensing, compliance, information security) to ensure cohesive legal services.
• Assist in assessing and mitigating risks in commercial contracts, flagging significant issues promptly.
• Stay abreast of legal and regulatory trends, applying this knowledge to ensure business compliance and innovation.

Qualifications and Attributes:

• 2-5 years PQE with a focus on commercial law (UK-qualified solicitors preferred).
• Experience drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts effectively.
• A proactive, positive attitude, with a willingness to learn and adapt.
• Gambling Industry experience is an advantage 
• Confidence in working autonomously while also contributing to a collaborative team environment.
