Job Summary
Riggers are highly specialized in moving jobs that cannot be accomplished by ordinary means and use equipment expressly designed for moving and lifting objects weighing hundreds of thousands or even millions of pounds or kilograms in places where ordinary material handling equipment cannot go. Rigger III works closely with Supervisors, EHS personnel, and the Operations Department to achieve these goals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads, to ensure safety of workers and materials
- Test rigging to ensure safety and reliability. Attach loads to rigging to provide support or prepare them for moving. Select gear such as slings, shackles, chokers
- Read blueprints, schematic drawings, and technical documentation to determine proper work procedures
- Applies experience and skills to complete assigned work within own area of expertise safely
- Expands skills in own work area within an operational process
- Directs and guides Level I and Level II Riggers to perform tasks
- Properly operate appropriate tools and machines to move or support materials such as heavy equipment
- Perform maintenance and repairs on machine surfaces and parts
- Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use
- Work in adverse weather conditions including high and low temperatures and windy conditions
- Successfully complete and pass company technical and safety training. Ensure that safety is included in all aspects of each job, participating the meeting and so on
- Identifying sub-standard acts and near misses
- Ensure that complies with the required STOP Observations and Near Miss Programs
- Travel required
- Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments
- May be assigned other duties to help proactively drive our FieldCore vision and align with our organization’s core values.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Certified level. Able to successfully perform all requirements of the job properly and qualified local regulations.
- Possess advanced skills and applies the fundamental and advanced concepts, practices, and procedures of a particular field of specialization.
- High School Diploma and above 5 years related mechanical experience (carpentry, lifts, cranes, etc.)
- Rigger / Auxiliary Moving & Material Handling Equipment Certifications highly desired
Desired Characteristics:
- Experience of power generation (gas/steam turbines) and associated auxiliary equipment but not mandatory
- Experienced level. Has successfully performed all requirements of the job multiple times
- Possess strong skills and applies the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a particular field of specialization
- Identification of Specific Shackles and Beam Clamps
- Safety Mandatory Emergency Stop Signals
- Overhead Crane Operation be it Pendant or Cab or Remotely Operated
- Must have strong Rigger/organizational skills and work well both independently and in a team environment
- Strong working knowledge of Forklift, Tele Handler, Scissor Lift, Cherry Picker, Tractor (Tractor Cottil with lifting Arm), O/H Crane, etc.
- Previous safety training and experience with life vests, ear protection, rubber gloves, leather gloves, hard hat, slicker suit, acid suit, rubber gloves, full face breathing mask, wearing full safety harness, or wearing a face shield
