PSI seeks a Specialist, Data Engineering that will Support the design, implementation, and optimization of systems for data collection, storage, access, and analytics. Ensure efficient and reliable data management, processing, and integration by collecting, transforming, and storing large volumes of data from diverse sources and ensuring its quality and availability for analysis and visualization.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead on the design, implementation, and maintenance of data pipelines by performing extraction, transformation, and loading activities from structured and unstructured data sources into a data warehouse. Identify and understand sources of data and optimize ways for data to be collected and processed in preparation for analysis. Implement data integration and data synchronization processes between different systems and platforms. Implement best practices for data transformation and cleansing to ensure data integrity and reliability. Develop technical documentation including SOPs and user guides. 50% of Time
  • Support design and implementation of data architectures that support data management, processing, and analysis. Define requirements to inform systems design and data flows. Implement, configure and maintain data infrastructure including cloud-based services, servers and storage systems. 20% of Time
  • Lead on implementation of data analytics, visualization, and reporting tools. 20% of Time
  • Provide technical assistance on data quality management, security, privacy, and data governance. 10% of Time

  • 10-25% international travel.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree (or international equivalent) in computer science, information technology, statistics, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of related experience. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing data pipelines/ETL into data warehouses and data querying and analysis, ideally in the health sector.
  • Experience with Azure data services such as Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Warehouse, and Azure Data Factory.
  • Technical proficiency in one or more of these programming languages/tools (R, Python, or SQL).
  • Technical proficiency in one or more of these programming languages/tools (R, Python, or SQL).
  • Experience using data analysis and visualization tools (e.g. PowerBI, Superset).
  • Familiarity with data governance, security and privacy standards.
  • Ability to analyze complex issues and solve problems with creativity.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to interpret data and explain findings to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to operate with limited supervision and latitude for independent judgement to achieve desired outcomes.

Salary Range:

 

PSI is committed to pay equity and transparency. We ensure pay meets the market within each country. This approach minimizes our impact on local talent markets and allows PSI to attract and retain employees, while staying cost-competitive. 

Actual base salary compensation will be determined by factors such as a candidate’s qualifications, experience, internal equity, external market analysis, and other business factors permitted by law. Hiring above the mid-point of the range below would not be typical in order to allow for potential future salary growth.

 

PSI is offering the following annual salary range for this position: 

 

Kshs. 2,820,000 (minimum), Kshs 4,700,000 (midpoint), Kshs 6,110,000 (maximum)
