Job description

Job Title: Climate Services Senior Sales Associate

Salary: CAD 75-80,000 plus 15% variable 

Level: 4

Team: Climate Services

Reporting to: Sales Manager, Climate Services

Closing Date: 5th December

Purpose:

Climate Bonds has a set of compelling commercial services that have been well received by clients, but too few are aware of them -- the organisation needs a few ambitious salespeople to go out and present these services, our sustainable bonds databases, certifications and sponsored research and events, to financial institutions and other key debt market participants. This is a high impact role where the candidate will engage with the world’s leaders in sustainable finance

We are hiring two people with sales experience in the Greater Toronto Area who are dogged in making connections with new people and figuring out who the right people are to speak within an organisation. This role is perfect for those who are passionate about sustainability, with a background in finance, or data sales and who are seeking a fully remote sustainable finance role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement sales strategy for territory to achieve targets and execute on strategic growth initiatives.
  • Drive new sales through direct client engagement, including identifying new prospects, and closing sales.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to institutional investors, banks and other clients on integration of new definitions and standards produced by Climate Bonds and the use of our products and services in their business.
  • Collaborate with Client Support to identify opportunities to cross and upsell with existing accounts.
  • Maintain high levels of sales activity, including calls, virtual meetings, in-person meetings in Toronto, and on annual sales visits to key client cities, like New York, London or Paris.
  • Maintain accurate records regarding account interactions, client conversations, finalised contracts.
  • Work seamlessly with other departments (Client support, Product Management, Legal, Finance) to ensure that all client requests and inquiries are managed appropriately.
  • Proactively solicit client feedback regarding new initiatives and future product development while also providing feedback from clients to internal partners.
  • Drive new business initiatives with targeted campaigns to your client base in partnership with other client facing teams and Marketing.
  • Self-learn and take every opportunity to become expert in our data products, our methodologies, certification scheme and other content in Climate Bonds that improves your credibility and utility to your clients.
  • Partner with Client Support teams during the sales cycle for both subject matter support and to ensure an efficient onboarding experience for new clients

Requirements

Essential:

  • 3 years of b2b sales experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities in English and the ability to deliver professional and persuasive presentations and build long-term client relationships.
  • Strong client servicing, consultative sales, and overall strong commercial skills.
  • Genuine interest in sustainable investing

Desirable:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the role or with other qualification like CFA
  • 5 years of b2b sales experience
  • 3+ years of data sales experience
  • 2+ years of sustainable finance experience
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across product and sales teams
  • Additional business languages a bonus
