Improve the safety and reduce the environment impact provided by coatings applied to ships
Did you know that today there are more than 100.000 merchant ships trading around the world and that these ships transport around 90% of the worlds cargo. Therefore it matters that coatings applied to protect ships provides energy efficiency, are safe, sustainable and long-lasting.
As our laboratory technician intern, you will become an essential part of our Marine coatings R&D team. You will learn how to support and participate in the research and development in the field of marine coatings solutions. You will be working together with our chemists, engineers and lab technicians arranging and carrying out laboratory activities, such as paint making, application and testing.
You will gain insight into the composition of different types of marine coatings, and you will experience what happens when you start to change the type of raw materials and the content of raw materials. You will learn and practise different analytical methods and perform a large variety of test methods which are used in the development of Marine coatings to ensure that they are fit for purpose.
More specifically, you will learn how to:
- Collaborate closely with material engineers, paint chemists and lab technicians
- Prepare new paint formulations using polymeric materials, pigments, fillers and a range of additives
- Carry out Quality Control of new paint formulations
- Apply paint using a range of methods
- Carry out performance evaluation of paints following international standards and recommended best practices
- Assist to produce written technical reports
- Actively participate on team activities, such as team meetings and technical updates
- Contribute to maintain the highest safety and housekeeping standards in our R&D facilities
- Work according to our Health, Safety and Environment procedures
You will join a team currently consisting of 6 colleagues. In the daily work you will meet and work with many colleagues across our entire R&D which will help and support you. Our R&D building and laboratories are brand new and located in Kgs. Lyngby.
We work in an informal environment with straight forward communication, and plenty of room for learning on the job. We help and support each other in a caring environment.
Are you eager to learn?
We will make sure to onboard you well and have a solid learning plan ready for you. To be qualified for the role, you must be studying to become a laboratory technician and the next step in your education will be to have an internship. Furthermore we expect that you are quality-oriented, possess strong teamwork competencies and have a natural talent for planning and organizing. As our company language is English you will have to be able to communicate well in both written and spoken English.
