Job Description

The Director of Tax -Americas delivers first class, added value tax compliance across the Americas through a team of 4 people.

You will work closely with the Group Tax (dotted line) who operates as a center of excellence within the Group Finance function reporting to the Group CFO. Business support work and managing M&A will be undertaken by the Group Tax team who support all Group businesses working closely with the US tax team.

  • You will supervise the Corporate income tax teams and responsibility for the building and strengthening of relationships with other individuals and groups within the North American business to ensure business insight for our Compliance and Reporting processes.
  • Leadership of the preparation of appropriate tax provisions in accordance with IFRS for Group reporting purposes; associated with the following jurisdictions - USA, Canada and Mexico and directly liaising with local advisors regarding Group Operations in Costa Rica and Chile.
  • Work with the Group and local finance teams, payroll, HR, the legal department and others in the global organization to evaluate the tax operations impact of commercial transactions, including M&A work, and considering ways of mitigating tax exposures. Completing the handover of any completed transactions into Tax processes.
  • Leadership of the review tax process control documentation, tax procedures, and disclosure controls to ensure they are effective, maintained, and updated in accordance with all legal requirements, Company and Group standards.
  • Delivery of consistent US ETR and cash tax, in line with budgets and expectations. No surprises and a regular dialogue on tax risk and opportunities.
  • Direct the review of information provided for the income tax provision and income tax return compliance.
  • Direct the management of federal, state and international tax audit process, including the management of the relationships with the external tax authorities and the evaluation of any proposed assessments.
  • Oversee the process for evaluating and pursuing various tax incentives and credits at the federal, state, and local levels.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field is required with 10+ years of progressive experience in public accounting and corporate tax accounting.
  • Advanced degree in Taxation/Accounting or MBA
  • CPA required.
  • Big 4 experience
  • Experience leading a team of tax professionals.

Technical Skills:

  • Experience Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Experience with Oracle or any other large ERP system
  • Experience of tax accounting under IFRS
  • Experience with other financial or tax preparation software

Preference for hybrid work 2-3 days per week working from Corporate HQ in Costa Mesa, CA
