Job description

THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN CENTRAL GEORGIA (DISTRICT 6).

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Implementing the directives of the Field Services Department.
  •  Manage the Day-to-Day operations of all county offices within the district, 
    • Managing the federation personnel of all county offices in each district not limited to: 
      • Promotes compliance with all corporate policies and procedures 
      • Recruitment 
      • Interviewing 
      • Training in essential duties 
      • Performance evaluations 
      • Time card approvals 
      • Disciplinary procedures 
  • Become familiar & proficient with all phases of Farm Bureau programs, departments & companies on county, district, state and national levels and assist the county and state pertaining to all programs of Farm Bureau.
  • Provide leadership to the County Farm Bureau in the following:
    • Meet with County Boards as necessary to provide information and counsel.
    • Financial planning & budget oversight.  
    • Provide leadership development to county officers, directors and volunteers to assist them in becoming more effective in their County Farm Bureau roles while being considerate of volunteer time.
    • Secure the assistance of other Farm Bureau staff members to assist in providing information and/or training to serve the respective county organization’s needs. 
    • Communicate with legislators on Farm Bureau policy and the needs of our respective counties not limited to assisting volunteers with contacting them, writing letters or utilizing GFB legislative contacts/formats. 
    • Assist the County & State with membership growth, acquisition and maintenance.
    • Aid the leadership at the county and state level in maintaining the Farm Bureau structure as an organization owned, controlled and operated by farmer members.
    • Support and encourage membership participation in the Policy Development process and Policy implementation.
    • Represent the County Farm Bureau as an ambassador to the State Office and represent the State Office to the County Farm Bureau.
    • Work in keeping the County leadership and members properly informed.
    • Offer assistance and suggestions to county officers and directors in the efficient operation of the county office, taking into consideration the size of the office, equipment, budget, qualifications of office personnel and the legal aspects of the county organization.
    • Consult on Projects & Programs. 
    • Provide training to county officers, committees and leaders to assist them in becoming more effective in their County Farm Bureau roles.
    • Encourage membership participation in ALL Farm Bureau services and programs.
    • Be enthusiastic and have the ability to work with the leadership (county & state) in carrying out Farm Bureau Programs.
    • Assist the Counties in establishing necessary functioning committees.
    • Help in evaluating the effectiveness and acceptance of various Farm Bureau programs on the district and county levels.
    • Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with personnel of Farm Bureau affiliated organizations.
  •  Serve as coordinator & event planner of all Farm Bureau activities and programs within the district and various state meetings and special county meetings as requested.  
  •  Maintaining a working relationship with District Leadership Team and all GFB Staff.
  •  Serving in other leadership roles when applicable to promote GFB, speaking at civic engagements and being the Face of Farm Bureau.
  • Compile reports and ensure consistent, thorough and timely reporting and documentation at a county, district and state level. 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS

 The District Federation Manager must live within or a county contiguous to their assigned district.  They report directly to the Associate and/or Director of Field Services.  Extensive travel within the district with overnight travel as necessary.  Other duties as assigned.   

QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Business or related field required. Production agricultural background preferred.  Must have 2+ years business management or supervisory experience.
  •  Ability to supervise and provide direction to multiple people completing a variety tasks.
  •  Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to an ever-changing work load. 
  •  Must be self-motivated with initiative and ability to make decisions and accept responsibility; be flexible to respond to unexpected situations that require immediate attention and be adaptable to diverse personality types.
  • Must possess good people skills with the ability to portray and communicate company information to multiple employees and volunteers. 
  • Must be able to read, analyze, prioritize and interpret procedures, regulations, instructions, manuals and other documents as required.
  • Must possess basic skills with computers including experience with Microsoft Office and familiar with typical company web-based system applications. 
  • Excellent telephone, public relations and oral/written communication skills are required. 
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License with a driving record that meets Georgia Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company standards.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly responsible for providing management and supervision to Office Managers and Secretaries within respective district. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Normal office environment with travel necessary to visit county volunteer leader’s farms, county office locations, conferences, training classes and various district, state or national meetings, understanding many events and meetings occur outside normal business hours. 

Must be able to move equipment and supporting resource materials up to 50 pounds associated with conference exhibits as well as county, district and state meetings.
