Job Overview:

As the Senior Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for reviewing financial statements, supporting clients with accounting related advisory, working on excise registration and excise returns of various states. You will also be undertaking all bookkeeping activities including bank and credit card reconciliation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. Our ideal candidate is highly trainable and has knowledge of US bookkeeping, and admin procedures and will be an asset to the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up bank accounts, online access, and chart of accounts.
  • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts efficiently.
  • Handle transactions like checks and deposits.
  • Correct errors in profit and loss statements.
  • Generate and upload basic financial statements.
  • Manage bills, invoices, payments, and sales receipts accurately.
  • Organize the chart of accounts neatly.
  • Post journal entries for interest and depreciation.
  • Categorize expenses correctly for tax purposes.
  • Process transactions with sales tax and pay taxes.
  • Manage 1099 processing for vendors.
  • Address complex payroll issues.
  • Reconcile gross payroll and taxes.
  • Adjust balance sheets to match tax returns.
  • Process property tax returns accurately.
  • Maintain job costing for project analysis.

Skills required:

  • 4+ years of US Public Practice experience in a US Bookkeeping firm.
  • Chartered accountant or Certified public accountant.
  • Proficient with software such as QBO, Microsoft and Xero.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with both peers and clients.
  • Experience managing other Bookkeepers.
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively.
  • Highly dependable and trustworthy.
  • Exceptionally organized and accountable.
