Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Associate to manage financial accounting and reporting for our U.S.-based client companies. The role involves accurate bookkeeping, preparation of financial statements, and operational reporting using QuickBooks Online. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with U.S. finance teams, support payroll and tax compliance, and help streamline processes. This position is based in Ahmedabad, with initial overlapping hours for training with the U.S. East Coast team and a shift to daytime hours post-training.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting and Reporting:
Learn and execute the accounting functions for 3 client companies
Book all revenues and expenses accurately in the accounting software (QuickBooks Online) by the tenth of the following month.
Attach proper support in QuickBooks Online (i.e. receipts or other support) to all expense transactions
Ensure accounts payable are properly reflected in QuickBooks Online and communicate with U.S. staff to ensure all payments are made timely
Assist U.S. staff as needed to ensure all sales are properly reflected in QuickBooks Online and that customer payments are made timely
Reconcile all bank and credit card statements each month
Assist in preparing financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
Ensure all records are kept according to U.S. accounting standards and proper financial accounting controls are followed
Operational Reporting:
Generate regular key performance indicator (KPI) reports on important measures of success, such as occupancy, personnel, and expenses, providing key operational insights to management
Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts for all three businesses
Payroll and Tax Support:
Support payroll processing for U.S.-based staff as needed
Assist in the preparation of tax filings and other compliance-related activities
Collaboration and Training:
Collaborate closely with U.S.-based finance teams, ensuring effective communication and alignment
During the training period, maintain overlapping hours with U.S. east coast time (Ahmedabad is +10.5 hours during U.S. standard time, +9.5 hours during U.S. daylight savings time)
Transition to daytime hours in Ahmedabad after the training period, with periodic, but regular communication during U.S. working hours
Technology and Process Improvement:
Utilize accounting or other software to streamline processes
Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a global or U.S.-focused role
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and compliance standards
Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks preferred).
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word required; experience in other software on Microsoft and/or Google platforms a plus
Excellent communication skills in English
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Preferred Experience:
Experience working with U.S.-based companies, particularly in hospitality, storage, or rental businesses
Familiarity with operational reporting metrics with ability to create trend charts and graphs for management reporting
Hours and Location:
The position will initially require overlapping hours with the U.S. east coast (Levy County, Florida) for training purposes
After the training period, the position will shift to daytime hours in Ahmedabad with limited overlap at the start of the U.S. workday
The Accounting Associate will work from Catalyst Partners' offices in Ahmedabad.
