About The Role
As a Staff Backend Engineer at Notabene, you'll be pivotal in shaping how crypto transactions are securely cleared and settled at scale worldwide. You’ll be joining the transactions team, a critical component of the Notabene Platform responsible for the reliable processing of high-throughput transaction data globally.
In this role, you will architect, build, and maintain our core transaction-processing services, driving the platform's scalability, reliability, and performance to handle the growing volume and emerging crypto use cases.
As a Staff Engineer, you’ll be instrumental in setting technical direction, mentoring team members, and ensuring our architecture is optimized to meet the needs of a constantly changing and fast-paced market.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and maintain high-throughput, low-latency microservices for our Transactions team, contributing directly to Notabene’s secure and reliable transaction authorization platformWork closely with product, engineering, compliance, and customer-facing teams to gather requirements align on technical feasibility, and prioritize projects that maximize value to our customersDevelop and execute the Transactions team roadmap aligning with business priorities and strategic objectivesScope and drive large-scale technical projects end-to-end, from inception through deployment, and delivering ongoing improvements to scalability and performanceMentor and support engineers throughout the Notabene engineering organizationWhat you bring to Notabene8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in a senior or staff-level backend engineering role. You have a proven track record in building and optimizing high-throughput, distributed systemsHighly proficient in back-end languages such as Node.js/Typescript/Deno with the ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code. Rust or Go experience is a huge plusDeep understanding of cryptography, public/private key encryption/signing. Knowledge of decentralized identity, verifiable credentials, and DIDComm is highly preferredExtensive experience in PostgreSQL and SQL optimization, with the ability to architect and troubleshoot high-throughput transactional databases. Knowledge of low-latency NoSQL datastores is a plusExpertise in event-driven microservices development, with hands-on experience using Kafka and familiarity with distributed systems principlesHands-on experience deploying and managing services on AWS with knowledge of container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker) being highly desirableKnowledge of security principles, particularly around secure data handling, encryption, and best practices in financial or transactional data systemsStrong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a global, remote-first companyExcellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and departmentsIf you strongly believe this role is for you, please apply.
