Job description

Pager Health is a connected health platform company that enables healthcare enterprises to deliver high-engagement, intelligent health experiences for their patients, members and teams through integrated technology, AI and concierge services. Our solutions help people get the right care at the right time in the right place and stay healthy, while simultaneously reducing system friction and fragmentation, powering engagement, and orchestrating the enterprise. Pager Health partners with leading payers, providers and employers representing more than 28 million individuals across the United States and Latin America.

We believe that healthcare should work for everyone. We believe that it’s too important to be as cumbersome and difficult as it is. And we believe that there is a better way to deliver a simplified, more meaningful healthcare experience for all – one that we’re determined to enable.

Pager Health is looking for a motivated team player to help build and drive accounting processes that will scale our organization and support our growth goals. As a key member of the team, you will be given the opportunity to enhance our accounting processes, propose automation solutions, interact with all levels of leadership, and develop a well-rounded skill set within our accounting function and other financial areas. You will get to participate in a high-energy, collaborative startup culture where your ideas can turn into action and results within weeks!

What You'll Do:

  • Become the expert for all the company's expenses; responsible for the preparation and oversight of all items related to expenses including the month-end close process, associated balance sheet account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and related reporting and disclosure
  • Maintain fixed assets, including capitalized software, on an ongoing basis, including tracking work-in-process assets, maintaining capital expenditure spreadsheets, processing asset sales/retirements, communicating with operations managers to ensure asset listings are complete, and recording depreciation/amortization expense
  • Drive insightful and actionable analytics; tracking expenses, analyzing month-over-month variances, and communicating anomalies to leadership for follow up
  • Own primary financial communications by managing the Finance inbox
  • Lead year-end audit requests related to expenses
  • Oversee and participate in the processing of accounts payable
  • Support the administration of expense reimbursement system
  • Build weekly cash reporting to assist in cash flow projections
  • Prepare monthly sale/use/excise tax report(s) and annual 1099s for reporting
  • Enhance process documents for all related processes, policies and procedures
  • Ensure accurate and timely transaction processing, accounting & reporting in accordance with policies and US GAAP
  • Assist in database maintenance and validations
  • Apply technical accounting requirements for expense related items to company-specific situations
  • Lead operational improvement initiatives to further streamline tasks and shorten the expense close calendar

You're a good fit if you are/have:

  • 4+ years of experience accounting/financial management procedures and principles
  • Bachelor's Degree in business/accounting or related
  • Advanced Excel, presentation building, and communication skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail; deriving immense satisfaction from solving and automating complex problems
  • Track record of cross-functional collaboration, putting ideas into practice, and assessing results
  • Proactive, self-starter that thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with continuous follow through
  • Bias toward automation and working smarter, not harder; an enthusiasm for evolving and growing with our company
  • Excellent at translating financial analytics into actionable solutions that drive exponential change in alignment with corporate goals
  • Experience in quantitatively diagnosing financial issues and implementing solutions
  • Experience with online integrated accounting systems, data management tools and business software applications
  • It would be great if you:
  • Are a CPA or on a CPA track
  • Have experience with Sage Intacct
  • Master time management; show ability to organize work and handle multiple projects
  • Exhibit effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Display grit, reliability, dependability, and flexibility
  • Thrive on enhancing processes that drive automation or show proven efficiencies
  • Acquired experience with tech industries and/or exposure to executive leadership
