Job description

Palo Alto Veterans Institute for Research (PAVIR) supports the nation's second largest research program conducted among the VA Hospitals is looking for a full time Clinical Research Assistant.


The Research Assistant will help support clinical research evaluating cardiovascular outcomes and testing strategies to improve quality of care. The Research Assistant will work with Principal Investigator(s) and other staff by performing various activities related to enrollment, compliance, ongoing coordination, review of medical information, and data management. They will help with protocol drafting and management and manuscript editing. They will also help with manual extraction and annotation of electronic health record data to help with development of algorithms around cardiovascular disease.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with protocol development and modification during study;
  • Manage and update IRB protocols as needed;
  • Assist with manuscript editing.
  • Assist with manual annotation of data from the electronic health record to develop cardiovascular disease algorithms.
  • Responsible for tracking database status and coordinating with research services about updates as necessary;
  • Maintain electronic study records;
  • Perform study-related administrative and organizational tasks.
  • Assist with study enrollment and ongoing participant communication.
  • Coordinate and train other staff members in study activities.
  • Other tasks as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required: A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience;
  • Experience working with healthcare data in a clinical or research setting.
  • Preferred: 1-2+ years of related experience in a research environment; Experience screening and testing patients; experience working with Veterans is a plus.
  • Organizational/management skills;
  • Knowledge and experience with data management;
  • Proficiency with Word and Excel;
  • Ability to interact professionally with clinical team members and research participants;
  • Excellent communication and writing skills;
  • Capable of working independently.
