Salary: £27,944 to £31,808 per annum pro rata (£16,766 to £19,084 based on 21 hours per week)

Can you bring your excellent IT skills to help the British Red Cross (BRC) reduce its environmental footprint and promote sustainability across the organisation?
The purpose of this role is to support the development and implementation of the BRC environmental sustainability strategy including the British Red Cross Green policy.
What will an Environmental Sustainability Officer's job involve?
- Collate, analyse and report Carbon and Quality data.
- Provide support to other BRC departments formulating action plans to meet BRC targets
- Support the BRC to meet external environmental sustainability standards
- Assist with the provision of information in response to queries relating to the BRC Green Credentials.
- Horizon scan to identify technologies, innovations and Carbon reduction initiatives and best practice and communicate these to BRC directorates/ departments.
- Contribute to regular communications promoting initiatives and updating colleagues across the BRC on Sustainability.
- Assist in developing policies, procedures, guidelines and tools incorporating BRC carbon reduction/environmental targets and initiatives.
What will an Environmental Sustainability Officer need to be successful?
- A keen interest in environmental sustainability and an enthusiasm to learn new areas. (There is opportunity for the post holder to access a relevant qualification via an apprenticeship.)
- Effective communication skills to prepare reports and correspondence, liaise with staff at all levels, external contractors, consultants, and external organisations regarding sustainability and carbon reduction.
- Good interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff at all levels.
- Good analytical skills and attention to detail to identify solutions to complex problems.
- Well-developed organisational skills to manage workload, respond to priorities, support colleagues in replying to queries.
- Excellent skills in using Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
