What You'll Do

This is an Indirect Tax Research Managerial profile for Indirect Tax : Sales and Use Tax Team.

You will be a knowledgeable and experienced Tax Research Manager to lead our Sales and Use Tax team. This role is crucial for ensuring accuracy in tracking tax regulations while providing strategic insights and research to improve tax processes. You will have, an understanding of tax legislation, complex tax issues and manage teams. You will be reporting to Senior Manager, Indirect Tax

What You'll Need to be Successful

Main Responsibilities

Tax Research and Analysis

  • Research sales and use tax laws, regulations, and court rulings.
  • Analyze the impact of new legislation and regulatory changes on Avalara tools with a tool tailored approach.


Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead a team of tax professionals, encouraging a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Provide training opportunities to enhance team capabilities in tax research.


Tax Competency

  • Ensure accurate tracking of sales and use tax regulations and other research documentation of teams
  • Manage processes for tax research.


Strategic Advisory

  • Collaborate with teams (engineering and product) to identify efficient processes
  • Provide recommendations on tax research automation and risk management strategies.


Partner Communication

  • Present findings to senior management and other partners.
  • Be a important contact for internal and external inquiries related to sales and use tax.


Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in tax compliance and research functions.
  • Implement best practices and technology solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field; Master's degree or CPA.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in sales and use tax research or compliance, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • In-depth knowledge of state and local sales and use tax laws and regulations.
  • Proficient in tax software and; familiarity with ERP systems
