Software Engineering, AI @ Clay

The AI team at Clay is responsible for Claygent, an agentic researcher equipped with a variety of tools to fetch information from the web as well as our internal data sources. As a Software Engineer on the AI team, you will build on the capabilities of our agent and imagine and implement cutting-edge applications of LLMs in the GTM field.

What You'll Do
  • Implement tools and processes to monitor model behavior, performance, and alignment with user needs.

What You'll Bring
  • Have 0 to 1 experience with a bias towards shipping and learning, while balancing a high quality bar

  • Strong product intuition — the ability to think broadly and cross-functionally about innovative LLM-powered capabilities and product experiences

  • Experience with LLM-based reasoning engines, memory modules, evaluation and simulation environments

  • Experience managing production AI/ML workloads and know the infrastructure, telemetry, CI/CD, and monitoring needed to support them

  • Up-to-date knowledge of the latest models, paradigms and frameworks in the the LLM space

  • Proficiency in Python and Typescript

  • 4+ years of experience

Nice to Haves
  • A strong vision for autonomous agents in the GTM space

  • Application of instruction tuning, reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF), and parameter efficient fine tuning such as p-tuning, adaptors, LoRA, and so on to improve LLMs for different use cases.

  • Infrastructure or platform background to build the foundations for other AI/ML hires to come in and be productive

Representative Projects
  • Build AI-powered growth playbooks, surfacing strategic account insights and outbound campaign ideas based on the customer’s ICP

  • Implement LLM observability so that we can debug and trace the reasoning of our agents

  • Implement a meta-prompting tool that improves the user's prompt on a desired task for them

  • Implement a prompt playground that allows users to compare prompts and models

  • Use multimodal LLMs to generate sales content (outreach, pitch decks) in the form of slides, videos, audio, etc.

  • Build rigorous evaluation sets and tests for core LLM workflows

  • Use LLMs for named entity recognition to convert natural language queries to structured database queries
