The Cloud Solution Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive solution architectures for the IRS's Systems Retirement Strategies and the Enterprise Architecture Roadmap (EAR). This role includes leveraging Retirement Strategies to identify and address gaps, understanding current and target state architectures, and providing technical integration support to the Program Management Office (PMO). The engineer will conduct architecture impact analysis, develop and maintain retirement roadmaps, and ensure alignment with modernization programs. Additionally, the role involves preparing and conducting stakeholder engagement sessions and supporting executive briefings to secure alignment and concurrence. Key responsibilities include solution architecture development, technical integration support, architecture analysis, retirement strategy planning, and program management activities. 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and plan end-to-end solution strategies for prioritized use cases, leveraging best practices across various cloud platforms. Define and optimize landing zones to host common services, ensuring alignment with the overall system architecture.
  • Strategize and plan technical integration support, assessing impacts on modernization programs and managing traffic in hybrid multi-cloud environments. Develop transition strategies for the IDRS program, ensuring alignment and collaboration with related programs.
  • Conduct high-level impact analysis, plan retirement asset inventory management, and sequence decommissioning activities. Develop and maintain current, transition, and target state system plans to support retirement assessments and analyze system interactions.
  • Develop and maintain a robust Technology Portfolio Management capability, prioritizing and synchronizing retirement timelines. Provide strategic guidance to the PMO and incorporate Zero Trust principles into system planning.
  • Develop and track key metrics and provide strategic updates weekly and monthly. Prepare strategic materials for working sessions, forums, customer reviews, workshops, and support executive briefings.
  • Incorporate cost management and control strategies into cloud infrastructure planning. Develop and implement automation strategies to enhance efficiency, optimize performance, and reduce manual intervention.
  • Strategize and plan cloud migration strategies for transitioning workloads from on-premise to various cloud providers. Ensure robust connectivity between existing data centers and cloud environments using industry-standard methods.
  • Conduct stakeholder engagement sessions, including working sessions, technical forums, and customer technical reviews. Support executive briefings to ensure alignment with program leadership. 


Education: 

  • B.S. in technology field computer science, electrical engineering, information systems management, related field of study, or demonstrate equivalent experience in a related field.

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional or 
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or 
  • Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect and TOGAF 9 Certification OR
