The Opportunity

Valvoline has a rewarding opportunity as a Manager of Construction. In this role, you will manage a team of Construction Project Managers for the construction of ground-ups and acquisitions activity for Valvoline Instant Oil Change (VIOC) and Valvoline Great Canadian Oil Change (GCOC) corporate stores. You will be accountable for fiscal year capital budget preparation and monitoring, geotechnical feasibility and approval, project estimating and budget control, bid procurement, contracts, scheduling, project management, quality control, project reporting, regulatory compliance, job completion, project record documents, and cost reconciliation. Expert consultation in the above areas with franchisees.

 

How You'll Make a Difference

  • Manage a team that plans and oversees the execution of ground-up construction activities associated with developing VIOC company stores. Lead, mentor, and coach the Construction Project Managers on your team. Interact with other organization functional departments, including other construction teams, real estate, legal, pre-construction, EH&S, procurement, operations, marketing, computer services, security, etc., to ensure project completion and environmental, safety, and regulatory compliance. Ensure that all processes are implemented, and that the facility is smoothly transitioned to operations. Providing franchisees development consultation, preparing them to procure sites and construct facilities.
  • Oversee management of all legal documents (construction contracts, service agreements, etc.) for vendor and contractor installations at VIOC/GCOC retail outlets. Requires knowledge of contract evaluation, negotiation, and risk management.
  • Establish new store development and equipment budgets and monitor team compliance with internal budget control procedures.
  • Ensure the team conducts routine, effective field inspections with reports to ensure materials and methods utilized by general contractors, subcontractors, and material and equipment suppliers comply with specifications/standards and are of the highest quality/value to VIOC.
  • Improve design/construction methods and develop cost and time-saving alternatives.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 10 years of relative experience in Retail Construction, Staff Management, Finance and Budget Control, Contract Analysis and Negotiation
  • Construction Management Software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • AutoCAD and/or Revit knowledge
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S
