The Opportunity

We are seeking a talented Manager, Data Operations. This position manages the end-to-end Data Operations which includes all Data Applications, Reports, File Processing, ETL Processing and associated platform with various technology background which are hosted in hybrid cloud environment. Incumbent will direct the workflow for the data operations area assigned, leveraging standard methodologies and ensuring maximum output and quality. Incumbent will oversee data production support of cutting-edge enterprise data environments that enable and scale to support a rapidly growing company. Incumbent will drive process management, produce efficiency and cost reduction through resource and process analysis and optimization, and minimize client and consumer risk. Leveraging deep technical skills, incumbent will direct teams responsible for all Enterprise Data operations technologies. Incumbent will ensure an optimal balance of technology investment to achieve business goals, and will drive technology decisions encompassing data, data integration, information delivery, and analytics platforms.

Day In The Life

  • Lead Data Operations seamless and frictionless public facing user experiences across multiple digital touch points, driving performance and delivery of Data solutions across multiple teams.

  • Manage L2 support activities of the 365x24x7 Data  Operations team spread across multiple countries

  • Ensure production systems and appropriate test systems are monitored at a level commensurate with the nature of the application; Ensure peak performance of Enterprise Data eco-system.

  • Develop and implement the Data systems security plan; Implement appropriate protection for company and client data and systems; Develop and implement Data Operations technology portion of the company’s disaster recovery plan; Coordinate disaster recovery initiatives for all data eco-system.

  • Ensure stability, availability, and performance for Data eco-system (all environments and entire lifecycle – from acquisition of data, file management & archival, through ETL processing, storage in data warehouse, integration to analytics engines, through data visualization applications and monitoring tools).

  • Oversee capacity planning and development of Data storage forecasts, including associated project implementation planning; coordinate annual plan to ensure adequate resource allocation to the Data eco-system – ensuring capacity requirements are met before customers are negatively impacted.

  • Lead adoption of agile and other methodologies followed in Velera

  • Manage client/business partner relationships to ensure data expectations are developed, managed, and exceeded; when objectives are not feasible, lead discussions to identify the best solution.

  • Coordinate Project Managers in the prioritization of releases and deliverables to maximize delivery on time, within budget, while meeting high quality standards.

  • Collaborate with IT security, program management, and other departmental teams to deliver IT services.

  • Participate in formulation of technology strategy; Support sustained innovation in both technical solutions and methods of delivering data solutions and appropriate documentation standards.

  • Establish department goals and budgets and manage within established parameters.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience

  • Eight (8) years of experience leading software/Data development or operations activities required.

  • Three (3) years of experience in financial services strongly preferred.

  • Experience establishing SLAs and availability goals to meet business requirements and budget constraints preferred.

  • Experience working with regulatory, privacy, security, and associated laws, rules, and regulations, including all applicable standards preferred. 

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering and Information Management or equivalent combination of education and experience required. ETL/ELT (SAP DS, Informatica, SSIS), EDC/Axon, Teradata, SQL, Databricks, Snowflake and SAP BO Required.

  • Master’s degree preferred. Azure, Snowflake, Informatica SAP or Teradata certification preferred. 

Supervisory Responsibility

  • Provide direction and leadership to staff; guide, coach, mentor and develop staff ensuring compliance with processes and procedures

  • Handle interviewing, hiring, promotions, transfers, performance appraisals, compensation, counseling and termination of staff

  • Develop and maintain staff by applying the necessary training and leadership that will allow internal growth and advancement

  • Direct staff, to ensure that all duties are performed according to department performance standards

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats and give presentations utilizing various audiovisual support aids; ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, work in fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines; ability to take ownership of issues in assigned area, and drive timely resolution

  • Ability to travel as needed to successfully perform position responsibilities

For California, Colorado and New York Applicants:  In accordance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the expected salary range for this position is between:

$117,000.00 - $152,100.00

Actual Pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
