Job Title: Controller - Remote

We are on the lookout for a qualified and seasoned Controller to lead and take responsibility for our accounting operations. The successful candidate will possess a robust background in accounting, a keen eye for detail, and a strong dedication to maintaining financial integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes as well as the preparation of financial statements, including regular report generation.
• Maintain a comprehensive framework of controls and a thorough accounting record system to minimize risks, enhance the accuracy of financial reporting, and ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Supervise an effective cash forecasting model to strategically plan for revenue and expenditure events.
• Evaluate and approve accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely debt service payments and managing bank draws.
• Gather, summarize, and analyze financial data to deliver insightful analysis that informs business decisions.
• Manage the reconciliation processes for bank statements, earnest money deposits, and escrowed assets.
• Facilitate the annual audit process, including compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and ensure the necessary reporting is completed, including lender compliance packages.
• Coordinate the management of lot closings and option contract payments on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  
  

Required Skills

• In-depth knowledge of GAAP and treasury management principles, including finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost controls.
• Proficiency in automated financial, accounting, and reporting systems; familiarity with Peachtree and Acumatica is advantageous.
• Advanced capabilities in MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Strong analytical skills for compiling and interpreting financial data, including the preparation of financial reports, statements, and variance analyses.
• Project management skills to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience in real estate development projects is a plus.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business is required, along with a minimum of five years of relevant experience.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is mandatory.
