Job Overview

We invite applications for a dedicated Oracle Database Administrator to become an integral part of our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring the continuous availability and performance of our core Oracle databases in a 24⁄7 operational environment. Your expertise will be essential in areas such as database reporting, query optimization, performance tuning, and disaster recovery.

Location:

  • Candidates located in Tampa, FL, are strongly preferred.
  • This position supports a hybrid work model, allowing for 2 days in the office and 3 days remotely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership on query optimization and database best practices to engineering teams and various departments.
  • Improve operational efficiencies across database schemas, SQL queries, and backup/recovery processes.
  • Oversee data retention strategies and maintain optimal disk and CPU utilization to ensure the stability and uptime of core production systems.
  • Conduct research and implement new technologies and upgrades to enhance database system efficiency and scalability.
  • Document and refine departmental processes, workflows, and policies.
  • Manage storage solutions and security measures, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Monitor database performance, manage alerts, and assist with data maintenance across development, testing, and UAT environments.
  • Perform necessary performance tuning and optimization to meet operational needs.
  • Document database architecture, integration strategies, and disaster recovery protocols.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 6+ years of experience as an Oracle Database Administrator in high-transaction settings.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience working with PostgreSQL databases.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Excellent organizational capabilities, with adeptness in managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Comprehensive understanding of relational database management systems, SQL queries, and table schema design, with familiarity in PL/SQL, Linux, and Java.
  • Knowledgeable in networking, security protocols, and audit requirements related to database systems.
  • Experience with performance tuning, database design, data warehousing, and encryption practices.
  • Familiarity with database-related storage management.
  • Ability to work autonomously while being a collaborative team player.
