Job Overview

Join our esteemed Enterprise Operating System Management team as a Systems Engineer in a remote capacity. This role is designed for those who are enthusiastic about managing and optimizing server operating systems, contributing significantly to our IT services through the maintenance and enhancement of both Windows and Linux server environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Administration: Configure, manage, and secure Enterprise Linux and Windows server operating systems to guarantee optimal performance across varied environments, including physical servers, virtual machines, public cloud, and hybrid systems.
  • Technical Support: Offer specialized consultation and technical guidance to IT personnel regarding system issues and enhancements. Troubleshoot and resolve complex configuration and technological challenges.
  • Application Management: Administer and maintain applications and services connected to Microsoft technologies, including Windows, Active Directory, and SCCM.
  • Security and Compliance: Support Linux server operating systems and manage computing resources within secure environments, adhering to standards such as PCI, NIST 800-53, and HIPAA.
  • Documentation and Collaboration: Contribute to team documentation and operational procedures while collaborating with management to design and implement strategies for system improvements.
  • 24⁄7 Support: Participate in an on-call rotation and remain available during university emergencies as essential personnel.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Windows Server, Windows PowerShell, MEMCM (SCCM), and Microsoft Active Directory Group Policy Management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to manage multiple tasks effectively, particularly in high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent communication abilities to engage with both technical and non-technical staff.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a closely related field with at least two years of relevant experience, or a high school diploma/equivalent with six years of applicable experience. A combination of education and experience totaling six years is also acceptable.
  • Preferred experience includes knowledge of Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, Vulnerability Management, Physical and Virtual Server Infrastructure, and Microsoft Azure/Entra.

Additional Information
