Job description

About Us:

At Parafin, our mission is to grow small businesses.

Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, yet banks do not have their back. Parafin is a technology company that builds infrastructure which enables small businesses to get easy access to financial services via platforms they sell on. Parafin's first set of products offer capital-as-a-service for online platforms. Parafin currently powers the capital programs for platforms and payment processors ranging from Series B to post-IPO companies such as DoorDash, Amazon, Worldpay, Mindbody, Fullsteam, Guesty, Xplor, and Quilt.

We are a tight-knit team coming from organizations such as Stripe, Square, Plaid, Coinbase, Robinhood, Affirm, Uber, and CERN, and are excited both about helping small businesses grow and thrive, and build products that leaders at top companies have started to use every day to grow their platforms. We are backed by prominent venture capitalists such as Ribbit Capital, Thrive Capital, GIC, Index Ventures, Green Oaks Capital, and SV Angel and have raised more than $94M in equity and $200M in debt.

About the Position

We are looking for an Analytics Engineer to organize and activate Parafin’s ecosystem of data. You will be responsible for architecting business-critical datasets used across the company. You will drive alignment between teams by ensuring all of Parafin can be pointed to the same sources of truth.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • You will foster a data-driven culture by ensuring everyone has easy access to trustworthy and complete data

  • You will interface between data engineering and end users to help improve our data tooling and development velocity

  • You will define and enforce our data best practices - data modeling, testing, version control, and cataloging

  • You will build efficient, modular, flexible, and reliable datasets that can unlock insight for stakeholders across the business — whether for analytic, machine learning, or operational purposes

  • You will identify gaps in how we collect data today, and work with engineering teams to ensure we are measuring the things that we need to measure about our customers and our product

What We’re Searching For:

  • 2+ years of experience

  • You collaborate well with data, engineering, product, and business functions

  • You care deeply about the quality and correctness of your work

  • You are comfortable managing competing and shifting priorities and can organize your own work to accomplish multiple tasks

  • You are excited about working on a small team and setting the foundations for how data is used at Parafin

  • You have two years of work experience in a similar role

  • You are deeply experienced with SQL, and are able to write efficient queries

  • You have a bachelor's degree in a technical discipline

We Prefer If You Have:

  • Experience building and maintaining data pipelines

  • Familiarity with “modern data stack” tools and technologies, such as Databricks, Airflow, DBT, and Reverse ETL

  • Experience working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Experience identifying and communicating data-derived insights

What We Offer

  • Salary Range: $135-$155k

  • Equity grant

  • Medical, dental & vision insurance

  • Unlimited PTO & work from home flexibility

  • Commuter benefits

  • Free lunches

  • Paid parental leave

  • 401(k)

  • Employee assistance program

If you require reasonable accommodation in completing this application, interviewing, completing any pre-employment testing, or otherwise participating in the employee selection process, please contact us.
